Hey Tom Coyote,
Recently my computer has been slowing down more and more from simply opening up my Firefox internet browser to playing games. I've defragmented my computer and cleaned up any unnecessary files that might slow down my computer, but this is not doing any good of any sort. Here's a copy of my HijackThis scan:

First let me be clear. We don't provide Expert HJT Analysis here in Other Computer Problems. If you wish to have Expert assistance in evaluating your HJT Log, post over into the Malware Removal forum. With the above clarified, in my non-expert opinion, your log does not show any signs or symptoms of malware. What I do see, is that you've accumulated a ton of applications and processes that appear to be starting at boot time, (each time you start your machine) Those applications and processes consume resources even if you are not using the application/process. You may have experienced a gradual slowing of your machine as you gradually acquired more of these applications. For instance, you have the following running active from boot, that really don't need to be there. Grand Theft Auto Groove GFS Browser Helper SigmatelSysTrayApp - audio soundtray ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE - video card resolution tray item daemon.exe" -lang 1033 – maps media to Virtual CD Player Apple Bonjour ctfmon.exe - Regional and Language Special Text handling service JAVE updater jusched.exe Yahoo browser features TTestGenXInstallObject) <–may not be running active (math homework assistant software) You appear to have had Ahead Nero Indexing service - anything "Ahead Nero" is likely to be a resource hog. You also have at least one window of Firefox open, but that may just be an artifact of something else you were doing when you ran the HJT scan. Additionally, if you machine was already getting loaded down, and now you are running IE 7.0….. it could be dragging you down a bunch. Same is true for CA Security utilities - can be resource hogs. Any chance you recently switched to CA? AVG AntiVirus and AVG AntiSpyware plus ZoneAlarm Firewall would likely have less negative impact. So….. I wouldn't be immediately concerned about Malware. Rather, I'd consider whether or not it would benefit my machine's performance to reduce the number of items loading down the CPU and RAM instantly each time I boot my machine, and before I even start doing anything. Best Regards
Hey Doug, Yeah. I didn't realize that you weren't an expert in that field and that I was in the wrong forum. Anyways, appreciate the help. I removed some of those startup programs and some of those unnecessary programs as well, and things are running pretty smoothly. Thanks man. - eharri2
