My computer has been slow, website loading slowly, games running even slower. CPU usage is high, up to 85-90% at times. Possible virus, but can't be sure. Hopefully you guys can help me! I've been here before, but was too busy to follow up. Your help is appreciated! I've attached my Hijackthis log. Thank you in advance!

If you have not resolved your issue and still need help , post a new Hijackthis log
The post above was my latest Hijack This log. If you'd like me to post another, please let me know.

My computer gets very slow at times. When I run iTunes with an IE page open, the music becomes very jarbled. When I close the page, the music returns to normal. Also, games and websites appear to be loading very, very slowly and sluggish.

There is a lot of CPU usage, with about 75-85% belonging to "System Idle Process".

Again, I apologize for not getting back to you on my other requests. I got busy, and the responsibility lies on my shoulders. I'd appreciate any help on the situation that you can provide me, and I will follow through.

Thanks.
Hello kylebeelong,

At last we seem to be on the same page  The only thing wrong I see with your log is that you have Viewpoint installed, its about to cross the line and be recognized as adware. Right now its not malicious but installs without your knowledge or consent and uses system resources. You can uninstall anything related to Viewpoint in your Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

This is what I suggest you do, first uninstall Viewpoint and than run this system cleaner.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up

Then run this free online virus scanner from Kaspersky, it the log comes up clean than I can direct you to some windows support sites that deal with slow computers.

Now run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from Kaspersky Online Virus Scanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
  • Standard
  • Scan Options:
  • Scan Archives
  • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan: Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
Post the log along with a New HJT Log into your next reply.
Followed instructions. Attached are the Kaspersky log and the new HJT log.

Good Morning kylebeelong,

It looks like your ok malware and virus wise, your HJT log is fine and Kaspersky found nothing bad.

  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    [external image: Posted Image]
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 3 <–This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future
