hello this is my first time on the forum so if iv posted in the wrong place sorry.
iv recently installed the trial version of avg antispyware, but usually when i connect for an update my firewall (zone alarm pro v7)alerts me that avg is trying to change my network settings, i have a screenshot if that helps
can anyone tell me if im worried over nothing or not.
thank you in advance

Hi There
Sounds normal, might be worth posting a screenshot, but don't be afraid of this kind of thing. Maybe your firewall isn't letting AVG run properly, or you might want to find a new anti-virus/anti-spyware that doesn't give you firewall alerts.
Hope this helps give you some kind of reassurance.

Welcome to TC Hibbygit,
I agree with bizarrebob however could I suggest you right click on
Zone Alarm in your systems tray/scroll to restore Zone Alarm Control Centre/Alert and logs/and choose off if it is bothering you. I just looked at my Alert and logs it was turned off so I have turned it on to test what happens. I am running Zone Alarm free 7.0.362.000 and also have the AVG Free Antispyware (not quite the same as you) but will test and get back if I get alerts such as you have been getting. I wouldn't worry at all about alerts that are happening at this stage.
Hope this helps.
kind regards,
Doug
Hey Hibbygit,
Our excellent BizarreBob and Tallin, have put your mind to rest….. and accurately.
But instead of making any changes of AV/ AntiSpyware, or Changes in main settings of Zone Alarm…..
Next time your AVG updates, causing the "alert" from Zone Alarm, you can put a "checkmark/tick" in the little box that says: "Remember this answer". Then click on Allow.
Future Updates of AVG will no longer "alert" you because your ZA will have "learned" that you prefer to "Allow" AVG to do that action.
You can repeat the same "remember this answer" for other alerts you may get from ZA, where you know that you wish to Allow, and you know that it will be occurring again routinely.
Best Regards
