Hi

I have a "minor" problem, Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal is stuck to my add and remove programs list.

I press the remove button and "Are you sure you want to remove Ad-Aware SE Personal from your computer" pops up.

I press yes

Windows Installer then states the following:

The feature you are trying to use is on a
network resource that is unavailable.

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternitive path to a
folder containing the installation package
WIS78CC3BABDE2A4FB48FBBE4DADDC26747_1_C
in the box below

Use source:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Wise Installation Wizard
\

I then press Cancel
and the "Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal" and Installation symbol disappears from the add and remove list.

However when I go back to the list its still there.

Ive tried contacting the Lavasoft support forums but have had no joy from them can anyone help please.

Thankyou
okay , i had this problem once and first i have to ask you if you have ever done any work in the registry for there is a way of removing prorams thru the registry and one must have the knowledge of navigation to do this properly so get back to me and the we might proceed if you are comfortable in the registry i will be waiting on your reply mike
Hi mikeislearnin Thanks for your reply I would say I am familiar with the registry but by no means an expert. Under guidance I could carry out tasks in the registry. So if you could help solve this annoyance it would be much appreciated. Regards
okay !!! , i will give you the keys that you need to enter into the registry uninstall !!! #1 you will have to check 1 places in your reg hkey local machine all this can be done in one setting !!!! no need for a reboot until we are finished !!! enter your reg and go to hhey local machine/ then to software/ then to microsoft/then to windows/ then to current version/ then to uninstall/ then to ad- aware se personal and and right click on it so you can deleat the key , when you deleat the key it will ask to deleat all keys related to that key just click yes /okay /confirm , depending on your systems , then reboot and check to see if it is gone from your add and remove programs , other wise you will need a third party uninstaller to wich there are a few free ones at ( majorgeks .com) , this regedit should work it did for me !!!!!! hope this works for you mike
Hi I followed your instructions to the point but there is no entry in the registry for "lavasoft" nor Ad-Aware which even I find very strange. I will give your other suggestion for a 3rd party remover a go. Thanks for your time. Regards
Your Ad-Aware installation/uninstallation utility is located at: C:\program files\common\wise installation wizard\ and is a file named: WIS78CC3BABDE2A4FB48FBBE4DADDC26747_1_C.msi Use it to install or uninstall Ad-Aware. _______________ Recommendation: Making changes in the Registry can affect your entire machine. Always make backups of the registry or registry item that you are changing, prior to making any Registry Change. If you don't already know how to export an entire backup copy of your Registry, stop any further Registry work until you study up on how to do so. In most cases, don't be working in the Registry if you are not precisely sure what you are doing or being guided by an individual who is well experienced/knowledgeable in Registry work. In most cases, do not use Third-Party tools to "clean up" the Registry. The benefit you may receive is most likely to be very small and the risk you run of changing/deleting something important by using a third-party registry cleaning tool is high. Occasionally you will see an OCP Tech recommend the use of a cleaning tool that does work in the Registry. Take it as a matter of faith, the the OCP Tech will have exhausted other avenues and assured that the action has been precisely researched before making such a recommendation. Best Regards
Hi Doug

Thanks for your reply.

Ive accessed my C Drive then program files folder then common files folder
but there is no wise installation wizard folder.

What should I do

Kind Regards
Hi manicd,

Do you have a folder for:
C:\program files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\

If you do does it contain a file named - UNWISE.EXE

C:\program files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\UNWISE.EXE

If you find the above UNWISE.EXE file as described above, it is the "uninstall" utility for Ad-Aware SE Personal.
Double-click on it and follow the onscreen prompts.
_________

If you do not find the above, and you haven't found any of the other identified files, then your installation of Ad-Aware SE Personal has become corrupted or partially uninstalled.

The best course of action in that situation is actually "counter-intuitive".
The best course of action is to download and install Ad-Aware SE Personal, allowing (responding affirmatively) to the default prompts from the onscreen instructions during installation.

Next:
Once you have Ad-Aware SE Personal installed, now with a complete and uncorrupted installation, you should be able to use:
Control Panel - Add/Remove to uninstall it.
C:\program files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\UNWISE.EXE to uninstall it
or
C:\program files\common\wise installation wizard\WIS78CC3BABDE2A4FB48FBBE4DADDC26747_1_C.msi to uninstall it.

Keep us posted with your progress.

Best Regards
Hi
thanks for your continued help with this matter.
However the problem still remains.

I reinstalled Ad-Aware SE as advised and followed your instructions to uninstall it:

as I there was no: wise installation wizard\WIS78CC3BABDE2A4FB48FBBE4DADDC26747_1_C.msi file or folder to unistall it I used
this method instead:

"C:\program files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\UNWISE.EXE to uninstall it"

which did remove the program but STILL remains on my ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS list.

Is there any other advice you could offer me to rid Ad-Aware SE from my +&- programes list????????????????????????

I should also mention this:
At one point I had Ad-Aware2007 "successfully installed to my computer but I removed it and when I try reinstalling it I get the following message:

The path 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Wise Installation
Wizard\WIS78CC3BABDE2A4FBBE4DADDC26747_1_0_6.MSI'
cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try
again, or try to find the insallation package
'WIS78CC3BABDE2A4FB48FBBE4DADDC26747_1_0_6.MSI'in a
folder from which you can install the product Ad-Aware SE Personal.
Hi Doug

Just to let you know I have finally resolved the Ad-Aware issue.
I have removed it from my Add & Remove programs list by downloading the correct version of AAW SE ( there are so many different versions) and installing it to my system.
I then uninstalled it from my computer by using the uninstaller in my all programs list (it was located in my system32 folder which is strange).
Consequently I have now been able to install Ad-Aware 2007, hoorah!!!!!

Thanks for helping me out DOUG and also mikeislearnin.
