Computer Freezing Up, Windows Error, Pop Ups

Welcome to the forum, sorry for the delay but getting overwhelmed with logs in this forum is a understatement.


Go to C:\Program Files\Hijackthis , open the folder and right click on the HJT icon ( looks like a red stick of dynamite with a plunger ) and rename it to Scanner.exe <– Don't forget the .exe

• Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad
• Go Format and make sure Wordwrap is unchecked
• Go to Edit> Select All…..Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread.
• Please use [external image: Posted Image]and not [external image: Posted Image]

DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

The reason I had you rename HJT is because there is an infection that causes pop ups that is written to evade HJT and by renaming it to something else the infection shows up on your log, but it did not show up.

As far as your system freezing, this could or could not be malware, it may be a software conflict or some sort or even a hardware problem, but we can dig deeper to see if anything bad is on your system as right now your log looks fine.


Run these two programs, Blacklight is a quick scan, when its done post the report. AVG Anti Spyware may take an hour or so depending on your system, please follow the instructions closely as the main reason I am having you run this program is besides removing anything bad, it will generate a log that is crucial for me to see as it may point to an infection that is not showing up on your log. Keep HJT renamed to Scanner.exe.



Download and Save Blacklight to your desktop:

• Double-click blbeta.exe
• Then accept the agreement
• Click > scan then > next
• You'll see a list of all items found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).
• Copy and paste this log in your next reply.
• Don't choose the rename option yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there, such as "wbemtest.exe"

It's extremely important that you follow these instructions to either Remove or Quarantine what it finds and save the report for me to see, it shows what and what not was removed along with an extensive report that may lead to other infections that are not showing on your HJT log. Without me seeing the report my hands are tied.


Download and install the 30 day trial of AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 to your desktop. It's very important that I see the report so make sure you follow the instructions and save the log.

• Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
• Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG and update the definition files.
• On the main screen select the icon Update then select the Update now link.
• Next select the Start Update button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
• Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
• Once in the Settings screen click on How to Act and then select Quarantine <– Dont forget this
• Under Reports
• Select Automatically generate report after every scan
• Un-Select Only if threats were found
• Close AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 <– Do not run the scan yet.

Boot your computer into Safemode

• Go to Start> Shut Off your Computer> Restart
• As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly.
• This will bring up a menu.
• Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
• Then press the Enter on your Keyboard

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning process:

• Launch AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
• Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
• AVG will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
• Once the scan is complete do the following:
• If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
• Next select the Reports icon at the top.
• Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system <– Dont forget this
• make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important
• Close AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5

Blacklight is fine, still need to see the AVG log. If you have not done so already, uninstall the version of AVG you just downloaded and install the new version that just came out.

Blacklight found nothing bad that could be hidden and all AVG found where cookies so I see nothing really wrong malware wise on your system.

If you don't use these then fix them , if you don't know what they are then fix them.
