I have already went through the HijackThis™ Logs and Malware Removal forum and i have a clean log. they think i might have a windows problem. i can double click on an icon to open a program and it will not open instead it pops up an error message that says… This file does not have a program associated with it for preforming this action. create an association in the folder options control panel. please help if you can if not point me in the right direction. thank you in advanced. Katie

you can try this:
go to this website, download the ICO File association fix
its a zip file. "unzip" it somewhere then double click the .reg file. select yes when asked to merge into registry.
ok i got that done but it still says…This file does not have a program associated with it for preforming this action. create an association in the folder options control panel. when i try to open anything. if i try to open internet explorer or aol or anything it says that.
that did not work because i cant click on anything to open it i have to right click on it and then click run as to get it to open. if you just click open it brings up that error thing saying… This file does not have a program associated with it for preforming this action. create an association in the folder options control panel. i know i keep showing what it says but nothing is working to fix it.
Ok i got it fixed i went back to that web page http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm and got the fix for .exe file extenion and everything works now. thank you all for you help! Katie
