I just noticed a few new entries to my registry. Can someone please take a look and give some advice. I have been unsuccessful in removing some of the files that I think are threating. Thanks in advance.

I see you posted your log at other forums as well. Please let us know where you want to proceed, because when you post your log at different forums, you are actually wasting our helpers valuable time. So let us know where you want to proceed. Ok, in that case, please post a note in the other forums where you posted your log that you already received help.

Then do next..

I see you are running Teatimer.
I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system.
When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again.
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.
How to disable TeaTimer during HijackThis Cleanup
Then, Download ResetTeaTimer.bat.
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer.


* Please download VundoFix.exe to your C:\.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• In case it says that nothing was found, Right click the list box (white box) in the main VundoFix window.
• Select “Add More Files?” from the menu that comes up. This will open a new VundoFix window.
• In the Window: copy and paste next in the first field: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vtutspm.dll
• Click the “Add Files” button.
• Click the "Close Window" button.
• Click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
• Turn your computer back on.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

After reboot,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following if still present (some entries won't be present anymore):

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ACAE4599-3304-4D8B-BA5F-A968D650EF9F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtutspm.dll

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1.
• Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1".
• Click the "Download" button to the right.
• Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
• The page will refresh.
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save to your desktop.
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
• Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
  • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
  • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
  • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
• Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.

Then,

Post a new hijackthislog and the contents of C:\vundofix.txt in your next reply.

That worked. And your HijackThislog looks clean again. Was Kaspersky actually able to detect the vtutspm.dll as malware? Please let me know...

In that case, it may be a good idea to submit the sample to Kaspersky labs.
To do this, go to next page:

http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus

This is the file scanner for Kaspersky. Click the browse button and browse to next folder: C:\Vundofixbackups.
In there you'll find the vtutspm.dll (it will have a renamed extension normally)
Click the submit button.
This will upload the file to their servers and they will give a result. Since your Kaspersky scanner didn't detect it, the online scan should also give no detection - but at least they received the sample and will analyze it anyway - so they can update it in their next definitions.

After you submitted the file, delete the C:\Vundofixbackups - folder, since we don't need it anyway.
