Header from my HJT log since I read it might be useful.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1
Scan saved at 11:05:27 AM, on 5/05/2007
Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16414)

I was getting the problem that is explained in this website, I'm giving it as reference because it can explain the problem a lot better than I can and it includes the solution I tried.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314452/

The only difference now between before and after I tried the solution was that now the programs that were affected just don't run or run properly, there isn't an error message anymore but the problem in general persists. I've been told this is to do with things like DOS programs but it also occurs for me on recent applications.
For non DOS programs it only happens when I try to install them, I haven't found a connection between the programs it occurs with, in fact it's been a problem for a while so I can't remember them all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi EnigmaChick Sorry to hear of the problem with your computer. It can sometimes be tough trying to fix some of the errors that crop up when installing 16 bit stuff. Can you tell us please (copy and paste the exact error codes and phrase you are getting) and give us details of the programme/application concerned (version no. etc) I once spent over half a day solving one of these probs for a customer who had installed Image-In (16 bit) on a win XP sp2 machine, so when you post back please don't hold your breath waiting for a reply! Regards paws
Problem seems to have gone away because of the solution I used, I think maybe the reason it wasn't working straight away maybe was because I don't think I had rebooted my computer at that stage. Either way it doesn't seem to be a problem anymore, so thanks for the offer of help but it seems sort now. I do appreciate you getting back to me though.
