For a while now about 2 or 3 weeks I've been seeing a dial-up dialog box popup. It is an old dial-up connecton that I've on my box since lbefore last August which is when I changed over to broadband. So it's been there all that time but I've only had this happening as I said in the lst while. Please have alook at log.

Your log looks clean . 1 program needs updating. Then we will look into the dial up diaglog box.

You need to update SunJava for security reasons.
Updating Java:
Download the latest version of
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6… allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the [external image: Posted Image] icon next to it.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.

Lets try the simple way first. as long as you are no longer using dial up so try this.

open internet explorer and click

Tools/internet options /connections.
You may remove if present the dial up connection. By highlighting it and click remove.
Then be sure to CHECK Never dial a connection .

Let me know if that helps. If it coninues we will start with a few scans to see if something is hiding trying to contact the internet.

Quick update. Java has once again been updated.
Use the links and instructions abaove.
But you will be looking for
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1
Have done as you suggested. The appearance of the dial-up dialog box might coincide with the update from IE6 to IE7. I use mainly Opera 9.10 . Thanks for your help, will report back if I see any more unwanted dial-up dialogs.
