I am trying to fix a PC that has been running very slow at startup and when accessing the internet keeps displaying a dialogue box indicating script errors to a BT broadband site in addition to an initial dialogue which suggests the content cannot be reached, ie various red X crosses on a white background, with no other content.

I have run through various utilities etc which have improved matters but concerned that there are still things there that should not be.

The PC is currently running XP SP1 (2002 Home Edition).
I have held back from adding SP2 until the system is at clean.

I am concerned at some programs that appear to be loaded/listed in Add/Remove programs, and which I cannot find much information on.
DivX, ICQ (Pro) , HuffyUV, LimeWire , VobSub

Steps Carried Out:
1. HJT preliminary
2. Smitfraud removal
3. Control Panel - Add/Remove and removed unnecessary programs & games eg Yahoo messenger, in addition
4. Run Ccleaner to remove entries in registry etc
5. Run Ad-aware SE, SpyWare Blaster
6. Run TrendMicro online Antiviral scan
7. Run AVG AntiSpyware, AVG Anti Virus

HJT log is now

Hi Since the original post I have upgraded to SP2 and installed missing MS updates. I am having problems; deinstalling ICQ which I believe to be a chat messenger ? deinstalling Yahoo Internet mail, not sure why unless this isnt really Yahoo ? Still cant find anything definitive on HuffyUv or VobSub. Limewire is a file sharing utility, not sure how risky this is ? AVG 7.5 Free in safe mode now reports clean. AVG Antispyware now reports clean. Although better than before, the PC still appears to run very slow at startup and a javascript error is frequently reported referencing the following. res://C\Windows\system32\nusmgr.cpl\nusamgr.hla although googling suggests this is caused by not waiting for the selected user account to open in XP ? bladesfan
LDT Apologies but cannot get hold of relative to get the HJT log as they needed the PC back desperately. Their last email suggested everything was working a lot better and they were seeing no problems so although I would have liked to ensure everything was clean I will regard this issue resolved and therefore closed. bladesfan
