Hello,
I keep getting this error "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." at random times. I have read many removal processes and cannot get this to stop. Please check my log and see if I am missing something. Detailed info has been slightly different from most posts.

szAppName : svchost.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2600.2180 szModName : unknown
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 83831a83

Most I have read have a .dll in place of the Unknown I am getting.

I have tried a few different spyware/av software scans ….Antivir, Norton, Trend Micro, spybot, ad aware….
I occasionally get these alerts from Antivir – TR/Proxy.Dlena.B.2 – TR/Crypt.ULPM.Gen. every tool I have tried for removing these have said it was cleaned, however, I still get the alerts.

Hi Jathsis.

We need to temporarily disable Spybot S&D 'TeaTimer' as it may interfere with the fix. Please do the following:
  • Open Spybot S&D
  • Go to the Mode menu, and make sure Advanced Mode is selected
  • On the left hand side, choose Tools then Resident
  • Uncheck Resident TeaTimer and OK any prompts
Once your computer is clean, it is important that you enable TeaTimer again.

—————————————————————–

Download and Install SDFix

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(This is the drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

————————————————————–

Reboot to Safe Mode

Important: If you have an 'always on' connection to the internet, physically disconnect that connection until you are finished with Safe Mode and have rebooted back into normal mode. I suggest that you print these instructions, as you will not have access to them once you have disconnected from the internet.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Continually tap the F8 button as your computer is booting a menu appears.
  • Use up-arrow key to select Safe Mode and press Enter.
——————————————————–

Run SDFix
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds, then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts, the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process and then display Finished.
  • Press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load, the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt, as a reply to this thread, together with a new HijackThis log
Please also let me know how your computer is running now.
This thread has been closed due to a lack of response. If you need help, please start a new thread in the HijackThis forum and post a new HJT log.
