HJT Log and spysherrif keeps coming back

Hi LD, its a new day. I installed all the programs as mentioned let them all do their work. Then this morning when I turn the computer on it gets to the blue screen like its been doing, and then all of a sudden windows whacks up a warning screen. I am actually typing this from one of my other computers as the one having the problem wont let me get past this, so I can't even get a HJT log at this stage for you. This is what it says A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER The problem seems to be caused by the following file: srescan.sys PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA Then it goes onto to say if this is the first time you've seen this, restart. If it happens again remove any hardware or software newly installed. Then Technical Information ***STOP: 0x00000050 (0xF000EEDA, 0x00000000, 0xF82AB355, 0x00000000) *** srescan.sys Address F82AB355 base at F82A5000, Datestamp 459e1537 Any thoughts please? Faz

Thanx LD, I was doing some searches on the file myself while waiting for your reply. I hadnt found this post yet, but I did get to the other one that JRosenfeld had made. Im using the one you sent as he has good instructions there. I'll report back when im back on the other computer

Cool Im back. His step by step process was close enough to get me thru it. Since I couldnt even get the computer to load normal mode I had to skip step 1. All good now, still not getting the proper active desktop, but it may come good again soon. Thanx for your help. Oh and do you guys accept epassporte for donations as I dont have any funds in paypal.

Is your desktop blank?

When it loads its my normal one, which is a huge lord of the rings background. Then part way thru loading the icons it goes to blue. The first time it did that, I changed the blue to another image, so it loads that one after it. I might try playing round in the desktop settings again and see if it will go back to what it was. It was just it only started doing this when the spy sherrif spyware started popping up

ok that seemed to work now. I had it set to show webpage, mustve done that after It went blue the first time. I turned that off and it went back to my normal desktop image

OK. The only fix I have is restoring it back to windows and I don't think you want to do that
