Recenly deleted McAfee due to performance issues and installed Trend Micro. System is a little better but not close to where it should be. Any suggestions.

Be sure to keep SunJava, updated

In Add/Remove programs click on these and press *remove* if listed:
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 - 97.99Mb
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2 - 143.00Mb
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4 - 144.00Mb
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5- 151.00Mb
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_04 - 130.00Mb
Or any other outdated J2SE


It is important to remove older versions as these are the ones with the holes in them. You will be surprised when you go to add/remove to see all of the versions sitting there.

Sorry it took so long to reply. Had death in the family. Computer is very, very slow. Takes 5 min to boot. I am getting unstable network messages. And also get Windows Explorer error messages. Computer also lock up(freezes). Problems first started when McAffee installed upgraded Security Center. I have since gotton rid of McAffee and installed Trend Micro, While its gotten better it's still not where it should be.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following,

Download and install AVG Anti-Spyware (ewido). Then scan and post the report here.

Still can't delete 023 McAfee Personal Firewall, I click fix but it's still there. Even tried it in Safe mode.
Did file search and it comes up empty.

After a 2 hour scan with ewido it only found a couple of cookies. I clean I Explorer regularly. Here is the report

Click Start > Run type services.msc > OK In the list of services find: McAfee Personal Firewall Service (MpfService) Rightclick that line and choose Properties. On the General tab Stop and set the service to disabled. Then reboot and post a new log.
