I get an "End Now" message with a random character name behind it. Any ideas as to what this program might be? Is it malware/slyware?

You can determine this by posting a HJT log in the HijackThis Logs and Spyware/Malware Removal forum. If they find your log clean, come back here and we'll work through it, but let us know.
