please help...computer is running aweful

hi. My computer is running pretty bad right now. Its freezing every minute or so for about 10 seconds then returning to its normal function.i really have no idea what this could be so i came here for any help or advice you guys could give me. I already have used cleanup to get rid of all my temp files and I have also used adaware and cwsshredder already. here is my hijackthis log if anyone has any advice. thanks.

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you do this:

Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find SCOJLEFYRMNGK
Right click and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service
Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type"
in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK.

To the same for this one:
YFVYJ

Exit the Services utility.




Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O23 - Service: SCOJLEFYRMNGK - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\SCOJLEFYRMNGK.exe (file missing)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"


Delete this file:
C:\DOCUMENts and settings\Owner\LOCAL Settings\Temp\SCOJLEFYRMNGK.exe
C:\DOCUMENts and settings\Owner\LOCAL Settings\Temp\YFVYJ.exe


Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.


(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

a few things happened here. when i followed your first instructions i did not have to click stop….it was already stopped. but i did have to change the drop down menu of both to disabled. When i ran hijackthis, the two files did not appear…so i then went to the folder to delete them, but they were not there. I thought they may have been hidden so i "showed hidden files and folder" and also turned off "hide protected operating system files" but they were still not there. here is my new hijackthis log….no freezing so far…

You need to update SunJava.
Updating Java:
Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the [external image: Posted Image] icon next to it.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_5_0_09-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Once installed you can test to see that it is in fact installed

i removed all the old versions of java, and installed the new one, but my computer has started its freezing again. here is my latest hijackthis log, let me know if you have any other suggestions. thanks again

Empty Recycle Bin

Defrag your hard drive
Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Disk Defragmenter


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

i deleted all of those off my hijack this log and the old versions of ewido then i defragmented my hard drive. i restarted, and it worked ok for a little bit, but its back to slowing down now. here is my new hijack this log. thanks again

i finally got the antivirus programmed installed, it found 6 threats and deleted them, they were all dll files in the system32 folder. i emptied the recylcing bin and saved a new log. at the moment it is not slowing down or freezing. here is my new log file.

its been a day now and its back to freezing…im beginning to think this computer is hopeless. if you have any other ideas of what it might be…im really hoping i dont have to format it. thanks once again

lets see if this will help.

Backup Your Registry with ERUNT
  • Please use the following link and scroll down to ERUNT and download it.
    http://aumha.org/freeware/freeware.php
  • For version with the Installer:
    Use the setup program to install ERUNT on your computer
  • For the zipped version:
    Unzip all the files into a folder of your choice.
Click Erunt.exe to backup your registry to the folder of your choice.

Note: to restore your registry, go to the folder and start ERDNT.exe



I recommend you download RegSeeker. Extract it to it's own folder, open and double click RegSeeker.exe to start the program. Maximize the window and click clean registry. Check all sections and click OK. When the scan is complete, verify the backup box in lower left corner is checked and click the select all button, then select all again. Then right click within the search results and select delete. Run it again and again, deleting everything it finds until it finds nothing. Reboot and make sure your programs are working properly, control panel and add/remove programs windows open, etc (basically just do a quick check of everything). In the event anything was 'broken', you can open RegSeeker, click backups and double click any/all files to put the information back. A reboot may be required for the effects to be seen. Reboot When done.

NOTE: To be extra safe you can choose to only remove the items in RED.
Some items may come back because of the programs you have running.
