Hello, I recently re-installed Windows XP on my PC and I am missing 2 drivers. The 2 Drivers I am missing is 'Ethernet Controller' and the 'Multimedia Audio Controller', I have tried using the Dell Resourse CD but nothing will install! Could someone please help me on this?
Following a clean install of XP it is important to install DirectX 9.0c and the motherboard's Chipset Drivers.
You can get DirectX 9.0c, here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details…;displaylang=en
or here:

For the Chipset Drivers, it is usually best to download from the Dell site.
(Those Driver CDs they give you have the original version of the needed Chipset Driver, but are sometimes difficult to navigate and find the one your machine actually needs from the CD)

Register at the Dell site, use your computer model and your Service Tag Number, to get to the correct downloads.

Best Regards

(after doing all the downloads and installs, your machine will probably be ready for a good Defrag. Yes, even though you just freshly installed)
And this will give me the Audio and Ethernet Controller? and do you know the link for the Internet Explorer 7 Patch? how do i get my Service Tag Number, and how do I find the model?
Here's the IE 7.0 patch: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928089
(Remember, Google is your Friend)

Yes, the Dell Site Chipset download will give you the drivers for Audio and Ethernet……….
………….. Unless you have installed separate 3rd Party PCI cards for those functions.
If you have installed 3rd Party hardware devices for Audio and Ethernet, then use the CD that came with the device, or consult the 3rd Party Manufacturer's website.

Your machine has a Model name like: XPS 9200 or Inspiron, or some other Dell name. Usually printed on the front of the case in pride.
Or you can use a program like Everest to obtain (almost) all the information you may ever need about that machine.

Your Service Tag Number will be pasted on the case………………somewhere. :)

Best Regards
