Multiple virus/trojan/malware infections

I've been trying to clean a friend's computer of multiple malware infections including Altnet, Need2Find, Virtumonde, Trymedia, VSToolbar, BestOffer, Rootkitdropper.C, Sdbot.ftp, Lop.As, Proxy.Agent.df, Trojan Horse Generic2.FDB, Downloader Agent.uj…..etc

I've scanned with AVG Anti-Virus, AVG Anti-Spyware, Ad-Aware, Panda and used Killbox, HijackThis, Combofix, and a few other tools to get rid of most of the infections. There are still some things left I can't get rid of. Here's my latest HijackThis log:

No matter what I do, I can't get rid of those 3 sites in the 'Trusted Zone', so what else do I need to do?

I suggest you do this:


Download DelDomains.inf
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

Right-click and select….. Save Target As….Save

To use: Right-click and select……. Install (no need to restart)
**Note** This will remove all entries in the "Trusted Zone"


Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.




Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

The computer seems to be running quite smooth now. The Task Manager shows the CPU Usage running at about 35-52% which seems high to me - but I notice that the Panda Titanium uses a lot of resources.

I would uninstall either SUPERAntiSpyware or AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. You don't need both.

1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove one of them.


Other then that the log looks good. Here's my canned clean speech.

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.



If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.

IE Spyads
They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.
