Hi,

This forum has been an invaluable resource for me and hence I am hoping you can help me with my home desktop. It sometimes behaves in a weird way and hence could you please examine my log. I want to make sure I don't have a keylogger or spyware. Every now and then I get a "log.*" file popping open and giving me the option to open it. I have no idea what it is. Also, I am unable to upgrade to IE7 in spite of numerous attempts.

Thanks shelf life for your help. I am currently out of the country so was unable to reply. Regardinging IE7, yes it did pass the validation test. At the current time, I am in contact with microsoft support and the want me to reinstall/repair windows. However, I am a little apprehensive about that. Thanks.

D
Also, I see some Mcafee entries in my log file and I don't have mcafee or intend to ever use it so how does it appear on the log. Is there a way to completely remove it? Thanks.

Here it is shelf life. Thanks for your help. The mcafee entries are in red. Also, any thoughts on why I am unable to install IE7? Should I reinstall XP as the microsoft support has suggested?

hi direfan,

sorry for delay. those mcafee entries look like they came from a website, maybe you did a online scan at one time? they are harmless, but you can have hjt fix them if you want.

any thoughts on why I am unable to install IE7? Should I reinstall XP as the microsoft support has suggested

dont know why, i guess if thats the only option left to do, if you really want IE7.0 that bad. if you re-install xp make sure you backup or pull off to cd/dvd anything you want to keep.
