I've ran updated adaware se personal, spybot, and ewido and all found nothing, but something still seems to be wrong. Ive also ran a full scan with my kaspersky 6.0 internet security suite which found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Should I upgrade to IE 7???

Hi Welcome to TomCoyote forums! I'm looking through your log now, and will post back soon. Until I complete my training, everything that I post to you must be checked by an expert - so there may be a small delay between posts. Thanks for your patience. :)
Hi claydog422.

There doesn't seem to be much wrong, according to the HijackThis log. Please could you let me know more details about the nature of your problem.

You ask whether you should upgrade to IE7. This is your decision. I don't think that it would make any difference to any problems you are having. The current version is Internet Explorer 7 Release Candidate 1. Personally, I would wait for the full release.

Move HijackThis:

The first thing we need to do is to move HijackThis. Your copy is still in a .zip file. Having HJT zipped, it can't create backups, so we must delete this .zip file and re-install HJT again. To do that, please follow the instructions below:

* Please delete your old copy of HijackThis.
* Download HijackThis (self-extracting) to your Desktop.
* Double-click the file, then click the Unzip button.
* Close the window afterwards.

Your copy of HijackThis is now in a permanent folder, and can save backups safely. Please remember that it is now saved in C:\Program Files\HijackThis\.

Update Java Runtime:

You are using an old version of Java. Sun's Java is sometimes updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities in an existing version. For this reason, it's extremely important that you keep the program up to date, and also remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system. The most current version of Sun Java is: Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 8.
  • Go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
  • Click on the link named Download JRE 5.0 Update 8
  • Click on Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save the downloaded file to your hard disk.
  • Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs
  • From the list, uninstall Java 2 Runtime Environment jre1.5.0_03 and any/all other versions older than 5.0 Update 8.
  • Install the new version by running the newly-downloaded file, and follow the on-screen instructions.
HijackThis 'Fix':

Please make sure that Ewido Guard is turned off before proceeding, as this can interfere with the fix. Open Ewido. Check that Resident shield shows either inactive or n/a.

Run HijackThis and click Scan and then check (tick) the following, if present (don't worry if any are missing):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…/search/ie.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…/search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
O23 - Service: Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe (file missing)

Close down all programs, browsers and other open windows. Make sure that only the above items are checked and then click on Fix checked.

Still in HijackThis:
  • Click on the Config.. button
  • Click on the Misc Tools button
  • Click on Delete an NT service…
  • Enter Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler into the text box and then click OK:
Click on Start then My Computer and find the following folder, shown highlighted in red. Delete it, if found, but don't worry if it's missing.
  • C:\Program Files\Symantec\ <– Folder
Reboot your computer.

This is a stand-alone program that does not need to be installed. Save it to a convenient location and make a shortcut on your desktop. Using this program will remove temporary files, temporary internet files and cookies from your system, which will mean that any scans will run faster.
  • Double-click the shortcut on your desktop to run the program.
  • Under Main, choose Select All
  • Click Empty Selected
  • If you use Firefox browser,
    • Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All
    • Click on Empty Selected
    • NOTE: If you would like to keep any saved passwords, please untick that option.
  • Click Exit to close.
  • If you use Opera browser,
    • Click Opera at the top and choose Select All
    • Click on Empty Selected
    • NOTE: If you would like to keep any saved passwords, please untick that option.
  • Click Exit to close.
Please post a new HijackThis log as a reply to this thread.

Don't forget to let me know more about the problems you are having with your computer. Is your computer running any better now?
I've noticed improvement in my internet speed. It's not very significant but I think it is back to normal. Some of my apps are still lagging on startup, But maybe I'm just expecting to much from my computer. When I bring up (My Music) which has 1500+ files it takes up to a minute for the files to come up sometimes, Is this normal? When I use Roxio 8 to bring up (My Music) files to burn it never takes nearly as long. Tahnks again beynac for your help.
Hi claydog422. I'll get back to you shortly with an answer to your question. In the meantime, please post a new HijackThis log as a reply to this thread. It's important that I check the results of the fixes.
