Hi all
First of all big shouts to all you guys taking the time with us newbies, very much appreciated!
I recently had a few driver issues, namely trying to update then roll back to a 5.11 ATI catalyst driver. I read in some other posts that people were having the same problem as me, where after using driver cleaner pro to uninstall all previous ATI stuff and then reinstalling 5.11 (or any other ATI Catalyst Driver version), the error message "Try to set up your adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup" came up. Even though Windows puts its own standard VGA driver on (I believe it's called VGSAVE??) ATI doesn't accept this as the standard VGA driver and still says the same error message when installing. Anyway, ATI seems to have installed even with this error message coming up but I'm not sure if it's not installed fully and is now the cause of the CPU usage issues……I've only ever had this issue since then??
I've run ccleaner, regclean, AVG scanner, spybot and vundofix, as well as cleared all non essential start up programs via msconfig but 'm still getting this problem. Also, in processes tab under Windows Task Manager my explorer.exe and one of the svchost.exe processes run at just under 20,000k with all my other non-essentail programs off (such as AVG, spoolsv.exe etc) and my PF usage under the performance tab is about 165MB with everything off - is this normal???
Hope you can help, I usually browse through the forum picking up bits of info from other peoples posts, but just can't seem to work this one out!
Many thanks
