Is this computer clean now? Hijack this log inc.

My OH's laptop managed to get well infected with Trojan Downloaders, droppers, startpage and IRC backdoor.
Ran AVG anti virus, antispam, spybot search and destroy, ad aware, CW shredder and windows defender. We use CCleaner and have also used ATF cleaner.Scans have been run in both normal and safe mode, and now show clean. Previous experience shows this is not always the case.
The only thing really noticeable is that Outlook starts up of its own accord, how do we stop it?

Below is the hijack this logfile

Thanks in advance

Rosalind

Welcome to Tom Coyote, sorry for the delay

No your PC is not clean yet

Download SDFix and save it to your desktop.

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
  • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
  • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the script.
  • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log
thanks bamajim
Hi Bamajim :wavey: not got on with this at all. Dwonloaded to desktop OK, restarted in safe mode OK, extracted all, but this is what I get The SDFix Folder has been extracted to %systemdrive% - Please run from that location. (%systemdrive% = drive that contains the Windows directory - typically 'C:\SDFix') Please open the SDFix folder in Safe Mode then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the fixtool. If run in Normal Mode, options to download and run Anti-Virus command line scanners (Sophos & asquared) are displayed. I don't get anything that says RunThis.bat I just get the above in notepad when I open the extracted folder. Help. Rosalind
Rosalind

That's because it didn't extract properly. After you boot into Safe Mode. Rt Click->>Extract all.

When the window opens where to extract it to in file location box delete what is there and type in C:\

Then Select Extract you should then see the C:\ and find the SDFix folder. Open that folder and you will find the "run this btach" icon

thanks bamajim
Thanks Bamajim, think we got something sorted somehow

Copy of both reports below

Rosalind

2 Things:

1. Click Start->>All Programs->>Startup->> and tell me if Outlook is in the Startup list in your reply

2. Please download F-Secure Blacklight (blbeta.exe) and Save to your Desktop
Double click the file to run it
It will create the "fsbl-xxxxxxx.log" on your desktop.
The log will have a list of all items found. Do not choose to rename any yet! I want to see the log first because legitimate items can also be present…like "wbemtest.exe".
Exit Blacklight and post the contents of the log in your next reply.
thanks bamajim
Bamajim, Outlook is not in the startup list. Ran a spybot scan last night and found the following. Smitfraud C:\windows\system32\PMUNINST.EXE Spybot removed/sorted no problems associated with Smitfraud. Let's look a little deeper

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

thanks bamajim
Bamajim,

ran combofix without any problems

combofix log and hijack this follow

I'm still concerned about Outlook opening on startup

Go HERE and Download System Repair Engine by smallfrogsSave it to your Desktop
Rt Click sreng2.zip->>Extract all->>Extract it to your desktop
Open the sreng folder
Double click SREng->>Click Run
At the main Window, in the left Pane,Select Smart Scan
At the next window make sure all of the boxes are checked and Select Scan
When the scan is complete Select Save reports
Save it to your desktop and Close the tool
Double Click SREngLog.txt copy and paste that log as a reply to this thread
Do not run any other options with this tool unless instructed to do so.

thanks bamajim
