Hello all, and thank you for the opportunity to post here and get help. A friend recommended this site to me.

My main concern is that someone may have "shadowed" my computer, though that is my term and not necessarily a correct one. For instance, if someone was very determined to get access to private boards I am a member of, or passwords that I have, have they somehow been able to access that information on my computer?

Spyware or harmful programs are a secondary concern. I do run adaware on a regular basis (every few days) and always remove around 20 tracking items.

I have tried to follow the instructions here, and hope I did alright. Here is my log:

Thank you very much for any answers you can give me.

Welcome to Tom Coyote . Sorry about the delay in responding but we are as most times just overwhelmed with logs.

Your HJT log looks fine  I am not seeing any malware on it. There are trojans that steal passwords but I see none on your system.

You need to update your Java as it is leaving a hole in your system that malware can enter.
  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    [external image: Posted Image]
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Java website and download and install the update.
  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9 <–This is what you need to download and install.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify

Run this free online virus scanner from Panda, it may pick up some bad entires that are not showing up on your HJT log. It's important that I see the log so copy and paste it into your next reply.
Panda ActiveScan <—-Accept default settings

Your HJT log is a little old, run Panda, and then post the Panda report along with a new HJT log.
