My husband downloaded the file chex.exe from this site: http://www.geocities.com/hexboxer/download.html It didn't work and now we can't delete it. When you try to delete it an error message comes up that says another program or user is using it. I downloaded ProcessExplorer from sysinternals but couldn't find what program was using the file. I even tried deleting it in dos but was afraid to do much as I'm not familiar with dos in the slightest. Any ideas you have would be VERY helpful as my husband is now freaking out and saying he won't be getting a psp for christmas, instead he'll have to pay to get the computer fixed

Sorry to hear of the problems you are having, The programme seems to emanate from Russia and looks as though it is designed to replicate the Microsoft XBOX but without the support that Microsoft provides!
The steps that you might like to consider are set out below, but be warned, it may have been an easier job to download, than it is to get rid of it!
1 Click on Start/Control Panel/Add & Remove programs
2 Click on Change or Remove Programs, (wait until the fields are populated)
3 Examine very carefully to see if there is ref to Hexbox or chex.exe
4 Uninstall if seen
5 Reboot and see how you go.
The author of the program may have neglected to provide an uninstaller, in that case it will not appear in item 3 above. If this is so then go to Plan B.
Plan B. (please read all the steps before starting this)
Try to delete the folder/files concerned from Safe Mode.
To get into Safe Mode:
6 Close down your computer in the usual way.
7 Wait 30 seconds and then reboot
8 Immediately after the BIOS loads, start pressing the key (F8) once per second until a list appears
9 From the list of choices select Safe Mode
10 Follow on screen directions until Windows loads with minimal drivers and try to delete your files/folders.
If on pressing (F8) you get a Keyboard error then you will need to start again but this time commence pressing F8 one second earlier.
If you are able to get into Safe Mode try and delete as before.
If you are still unsucessfull then post pack here and we will offer some further suggestions
