Hi there!

I posted a log here on the 12th, and didn't get any replies, but I thought it would help if I made a more detailed thread so you'll know what's wrong. I've been writing down the stuff that's wrong with my computer, and I made a new HijackThis Log. I have used Spybot, Ad-aware, and ATF-cleaner.

Problems:
- Slowness/freezing (not very often)
- RUNDLL error @ every login: "Error loading w00eec21.dll. The specified module could not be found."
- Ads popup in tabs (Firefox) >> WinAntiVirus Pro/amaena, drivecleaner, and other random ads
- Popups from Internet Explorer (it is installed on my computer, but I don't use it.)
- Can't access any folders (My Computer, My Documents, etc.) >> If I click on any of the folders in my start menu, the taskbar disappears for a few seconds, and comes back, but no folder opens. :[

1.) I noticed that you are not running any AntiVirus application. You could get infected immediately after we clean you up. Please download and install ONE of these:

» Avast!
» AVG AntiVirus
» AntiVir

2.) Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player are Viewpoint components which are installed as a side effect of installing other software, most notably AOL and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Viewpoint Manager is responsible for managing and updating Viewpoint Media Player’s components. Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without user's approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". In 2006, this may change, read Viewpoint to Plunge Into Adware.

I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present:

Viewpoint
Viewpoint Manager
Viewpoint Media Player

If AOL is present, to prevent it from being recreated every time you run the AOL software:

Open AOL
Go to Help on the toolbar
Select About AOL
Hit Ctrl D and a secret panel can be accessed which will allow you to disable all desktop and IM features associated with Viewpoint.

Reboot after uninstalling Viewpoint then delete this folder: C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

3.) It is possible that some of the entries are hiding from us, so I suggest you to please rename Hijackthis.exe to something like angelfire777.exe

4.) Please download VundoFix.exe to your Desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

5.) Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

DO NOT run any other options until you are told to do so!!

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

I have AVG installed on my computer. I can't access any folders at all right now, and my taskbar just disappeared again (hasn't come back this time). Is there any way I can get to Control Panel or erase Viewpoint?

Okay, now that my computer's been rebooted a few times, it looks like I can open folders again.

I've removed Viewpoint, and ran both Vundo and SmitFraud.

The AVG you have on your computer is AVG Antispyware. What I need to you to download is AVG Antivirus or you can also choose from the 2 antivirus' that I recommended..

Please install one immediately before proceeding with the rest of the fix.

Please print out or copy these instructions to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

Run AVG Anti-Spyware

From the main AVG Anti-Spyware screen, click on Update, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Exit AVG Anti-Spyware. DO NOT scan yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode

To enter Safe Mode..

Click start > turn off computer > Restart > Tap F8 key just before Windows starts to load, > this will bring up a menu > use your keyboard to scroll to Safe Mode> hit enter

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Navigate to C:\Windows\Temp
Click Edit, click Select All, press the DELETE key, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to send all the items to the Recycle Bin.

Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY LISTED USER)\Local Settings\Temp
Click Edit, click Select All, press the DELETE key, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to send all the items to the Recycle Bin.

Clean out your Temporary Internet files. Proceed like this:

Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
In the Delete Files dialog box, tick the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
On the General tab, click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files, and then click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the Reset Web Settings button. Click Apply then OK.
Click OK.

Next Click Start, click Control Panel and then double-click Display. Click on the Desktop tab, then click the Customize Desktop button. Click on the Web tab. Under Web Pages you should see a checked entry called Security info or something similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the Delete button. Click Ok then Apply and Ok.

Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin.

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start AVG Anti-Spyware and run a full scan.

Click on Scanner on the toolbar.
Click on the Settings tab.
- Under How to act?
  - Click on Recommended Action and choose Quarantine from the popup menu.
- Under How to scan?
  - All checkboxes should be ticked.
- Under Possibly unwanted software:
  - All checkboxes should be ticked.
- Under Reports:
  - Select Automatically generate report after every scan and uncheck Only if threats were found.
- Under What to scan?
  - Select Scan every file.
Click on the Scan tab.
Click on Complete System Scan to start the scan process.
Let the program scan the machine.
When the scan has finished, follow the instructions below.
IMPORTANT : Don't click on the "Save Scan Report" button before you did hit the "Apply all Actions" button.
- Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine (1), if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu. (2)
- At the bottom of the window click on the Apply all Actions button. (3)
When done, click the Save Scan Report button. (4)
- Click the Save Report as button.
- Save the report to your Desktop.
Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.

Reboot in Normal Mode.

I have a program on my computer now called Ultimate Cleaner. It starts up at every login, but I don't remember installing it. :/ I don't see it in my Add/Remove Programs list.

Do you know anything about this file:

C:\DOCUMEnts and settings\Cristy\Desktop\WALLPA~1.EXE

The name of the file above starts with WALLP. If you know what it is, please skip all the blue lines in the fix.. If not, please include the blue lines in the fix..

1.) Click Start > Run > Type in taskmgr.exe

Go to the Process tab then end these processes if you see them:

App.exe
WALLPA~1.EXE <WALLP

2.) Open Hijackthis > choose Scan Only > Place a checkmark in the boxes beside these entries in bold.

Close your browsers and all open windows except for Hijackthis, then click "Fix checked".

3.) Configure your machine to view hidden files:

Windows XP

Click Start.
Open My Computer..
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
Under the "Hidden files and folders" heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide Protected Operating System Files Option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

4.) Open Windows Explorer by hitting your Windows Key + E at the same time.
*If you do not have a Windows Key, double click My Computer > Click the folders icon

Then navigate to these files and delete them:

C:\WINDOWS\sys11-1396750784.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ijunxoh.dll
C:\DOCUMEnts and settings\Cristy\Desktop\WALLPA~1.EXE

5.) Click Start > Search > Click "All Files and Folders".
Under "Advanced Options", make sure the following are checked:

Search System Folders.
Search Hidden Files And Folders.
Search Subfolders.

Then into the search box, copy and paste the following (one at a time):

winpsa32.dll
w00eec21.dll

Then, click Search after you type each of those. After that, delete all instances of those files.

6.) Delete these folders:

C:\Program Files\Ultimate Cleaner
C:\Program Files\Common Files\ukwr

Empty your recycle bin.

7.) Reboot.

8.) Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser

Click Firefox at the top and choose:Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click
No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser

Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE:If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

9.) Run Panda Active Scan

Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan Your PC button.
A new window will open…click the Check Now button.
Enter your Country.
Enter your State/Province.
Enter your E-mail Address and click Send.
Select either Home User or Company.
Click the big Scan Now button.
If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it.
It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan. (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan.
When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

On your next reply, please include a fresh HijackThis log, Panda Active Scan log and please inform me of any files that you cannot find or delete.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > uninstall the items in bold if found.

Your Java is out of date….
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.

Click Start > Control Panel
Click Add/Remove Programs
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Then download Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9, and install it to your computer.

Reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log along with a description on how your machine is behaving..

Everything looks great except for one leftover entry of Yahoo!

Open Hijackthis > choose Scan Only > Place a checkmark in the boxes beside these entries in bold.

R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)

Close your browsers and all open windows except for Hijackthis, then click "Fix Checked."

Other than that, Your log looks clean!

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
Select Create a restore point, and Ok it.
Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr
Select the More options tab
Choose the option to clean up system restore and OK it.

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.
