Hi folks,
I've spent over two days trying to rid my laptop of ads! I've run SpyBot, AdAware, and XoftSpy but still get annoying ads. I'd really appreciate some assistance so I can get some real work done. Here's my Hijack This log. Thanks in advance.

Click here to download Pocket Killbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the 'Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following, clicking the red 'Delete File' button after pasting each one:

Click 'Exit' when done.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Then create a new folder called C:\HijackThis, extract the HijackThis.exe file from the zip file into the new folder and run it from there. This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong. Make sure that you have no other browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

I followed your instructions and so far, so good! No more annoying ads!
Thanks a bunch! By the way, your previous post wanted me to zip up each file found in the !Submit folder off the c: drive (results from running Killbox) . Unfortunately, I don't have that specific directory otherwise I would be more than happy to send you what you want.

Just so I know for the future - did you extract Killbox from the zip or run it from within. It should have created that folder automatically and I'm trying to figure out why it didn't.

Your log looks OK. Let's check nothing is lurking. Click here to download mwavscan. Double-click it to run it, select all local drives, scan all files, press 'scan' and when it is completed, anything found will be displayed in the lower pane. Highlight it, CTRL C and paste it in your next reply.

Is F a separate partition or a separate drive?

Start Killbox and click on Tools->Delete Temp Files.

When that finishes, copy and paste each of the following lines into the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox, and click the red button with the white X on it after each. Keep track of any files it tells you either could not be found or could not be deleted, as you'll need those later:

For the files that it either couldn't find or couldn't delete, in the killbox again this time, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer NO until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer Yes.

When it reboots, post a new HJT log and mwavscan log again.

Daemon, I've sent off the zip files in separate emails since some files were pretty large. My IE browser runs "like a charm". - no more annoying ads and the performance has returned to normal. I can't thank you and the TomCoyote forum enough. Furthermore, I can't even imagine the cost and aggravation you have saved me. What a fabulous service you are providing to computer users.
