Hey guys,

New user to this whole forum thing, hope someone can help me. My computer is running extremely slow and everytime I run Spybot, it comes up with "cmdservice" detected, I run it again and even in safe mode and it never removes itself from the computer. Here is my HiJackThis Log….Thanks in advance.

Hye guys slow computer and everytime I run Spybot I get the message "cmdservice" cannot be removed. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this, I know cmdservice is like a portal or wormhole to allow viruses to infect your computer. Also, my computer is running extremely slow if there is any useless programs running let me know what I should get rid of.

* Download AlcanShorty from Here
  • Click the download button below and agree to download the fix.
  • Download Alcanshorty to your desktop.
  • DoubleClick alcanshorty_en.exe and click install
  • This will create a new folder on your desktop called alcanshorty_en
  • Open that folder and doubleclick Run.bat
  • Once the fix starts, your icons and desktop will disappear, this is normal.
  • Make sure you have a working internet connection. In case your firewall gives an alert, don't block it,
because alcanshorty needs to download some additional files to let the tool run properly.
  • Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.
  • Press exit to terminate the BFU program.

Please download ComboFix by sUBs from either of these two locations

BleepingComputerComboFix
TechSupportForumComboFix
  • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply along with a new HJT log please.
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

I need to see the log from ComboFix along with a New HJT log please.
Thanks for the advice Ken…I did everything that was on there and here are the two new logs.

I hope that everything worked out, hope to hear back from you soon with the condition of my very sick computer…haha.
John :D

You were infected with the Alcans worm, it looks like its gone but you still have other infections that we need to work on.

Just run Option # 1

Please download SmitfraudFix
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

As I am sure you can see through the recent log files I have an extensive amount of software running on my computer. I was just wondering when this is finished and the problem is solved, maybe you could give me some advice on how to better protect my computer so this won't happen again. Also, I am hoping that once this is complete, will my computer return to the fast state it used to when I first got it, or is there something e;se I must do before having it back that way…. Thanks for all of your help.
John,

Just wondering, how did my computer get infected so badly. As I am sure you can see through the recent log files I have an extensive amount of software running on my computer.

I will have some tips and free tools for you once your clean,.

Viewpoint itself is not malware but installs without your knowledge or consent, remove via the Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing :
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.

Lets run Option # 2 for Smitfraud.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart anyway into normal Windows. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Ewido was just bought by AVG AV so the name may be different but its still the same great program.
Download and install the 30 day trial of Ewido Anti Spyware to your desktop.
  • Once you have downloaded Ewido Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
  • Once the setup is complete you will need run Ewido and update the definition files.
  • On the main screen select the icon Update then select the Update now link.
  • Next select the Start Update button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine <– Dont forget this
  • Under Reports
  • Select Automatically generate report after every scan
  • Un-Select Only if threats were found
  • Close Ewido Anti-Spyware <– Do not run the scan yet.

Open HJT Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, check these and click on Fix Checked. Some may be gone already.

Boot your computer into Safemode
  • Go to Start> Shut Off your Computer> Restart
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly.
  • This will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
  • Then press the Enter on your Keyboard

  • Launch Ewido-Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
  • Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
  • Ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
  • Once the scan is complete do the following:
  • If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
  • Next select the Reports icon at the top.
  • Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system
  • make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important
  • Close Ewido

Still in Safemode, look for these files and delete them if present.
They may be gone

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddabb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oqabf.dll

Reboot and run this cleaner

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

I know this is a lot to do, print it out, take your time, I will be back online this evening. I need to see the Smitfraud report, the Ewido Report and a New HJT log :D
