Hello eveyone! I have spent some time reading the boards and tried many of the self fixes but now I need your help…I am sorry for the long email and I really appreciate everyones help! I really do!

I have spent hours with Dell Support (I was one of the lucky ones when I bought my computer I have free lifetime support..not that it did any good) and my local ISP. I am not able to log into random web sites because it times out. It looks like I am being redirected….zedo.com, atdt.com etc…Dell says its not my computer, ISP says everything is fine…
For instance I will get a time out if I go to amazon.com but if I walk next door they can pull it up. I cant log onto a bank site tcfexpress.com and my wife can not work at all…She works for www.tutor.com…this has been going on for just under a week. No income for her!

I get a timeout even when I try to download ewido…

I have tried spybot, ad-aware, spydoctor, registry mechanic…I use the complete Norton package and still nothing.

I was able to get to my hijack download and here it is….

Welcome to Tom Coyote

I am not looking at anything real bad on your log, not to say something could be hidden and not showing up in HJT.

Hijackthis 1.99.1
Its important that Hijackthis is installed in its own permanent folder for backup purposes.
  • Go to where you currently have HJT installed and delete the whole folder.
  • Use the link above or the links in my signature to download HJT 1.99.1 setup to your desktop
  • Double Click on the Setup icon and by defaut it will unzip to C:\Program Files\Hijackthis
  • HJT should now reside in C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\Hijackthis.exe

Open HJT Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, check these and click on Fix Checked

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

Lets rename HJT, go to where you have it currently installed, right click on the HJT icon and rename it to Analyze.exe, run a scan and post a new log.
Thank you! ….I keep getting timed out when I go to download hijack and ATF…I will have to download it at work and install manually. sorry for the delay. I just dont understand why I keep getting timed out….agghhhh. Why do some sites work perfect and fast and others dont…. I will post the new logs as soon as I can! Thank you for your help!
Sorry for the dealy! I had to download it at work and install it at home…

I did everything you suggested and here is the new hijack (now analyze) log…

You have HJT right where we want it to be  But you did not rename it. The reason for renaming is there is an infection that hides from HJT so renaming it to analyze.exe or anything you wish may show us something on your log that is not currently present. Just right click on the HJT Icon and rename it.

You have AVG Anti Spyware installed, if you can, check for updates and then boot into safemode, run the scan and post the log into this thread along with a new HJT log.

To Enter Safemode
  • Go to Start> Shut off your Computer> Restart
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly,
this will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to Safemode
  • Then press the Enter Key on your Keyboard

A couple of things to try. You will need your windows CD for both these fixes.

1.
  • Click Start>Run
  • Type in sfc /scannow, hit Enter.
  • Note: there is a space between sfc and /scannow
  • This should replace any corrupted/missing system files and will hopefully fix things.
You may need your XP disc in your CD drive for this.

2.
If the above did not help, then Boot with your windows CD into the Recovery Console and do a System Repair. It will go over your entire operating system replaceing any files that are missing or corrupt.

If you can't download and run any programs, I am really at a loss here, the only thing I can suggest is to post into some windows support sites as they are better equiped to help you. This forum is for the removal of malware, I see none on your log so I am guessing your problem is windows related. If any of the above tips helped you, post back and let me know.

Thank you! I will try everything you suggested. One question for you? Is it normal to see redirects like zedo.com and atdt.com? When I type in a address in firefox or IE the bottom left corner will briefly show those? I really want to thank you for your time and help! I will try the other boards as you suggested.
Is it taking you to those sites or just showing up on the bottom left????

Lets clean you up a bit more.
