sorry bout that very busy day! No, I am not getting any error msgs right now. I went to start>controll pan> add/remove and could not delete those that were still there. Kazaa and such did a search and got nothing. I have been going through folders to get rid of whatever I can since this computer has barely 15% free space. I was able to get enough space to get service pack 2 on here and I am thankfull to you for that and what you have showen me. I would think that It would delete them off the add/ remove log if there is nothing there but I guess not. Question: I have a disk for windows xp pro if I install it over the home version will it make some of the messed up areas better? and will I loose things like winamp and media player and the likes of what you have had me download? and would I loose my pics and my music or would it just put it all in the new folders?
At this point I think I'd leave well enough alone

Lets try this and see if it'll cleanup the dead ones:

Backup your Registry…
- Press "CTRL - ALT - DEL" keys all at the same time to start "Task Manager"
- In the Task Manager window click on "File", then from the drop-down menu select "New Task (Run…)"
- In the "Create New Task" window enter\type "regedit" (without quotes)
- Once Regedit opens click on the FILE menu and select Export
- Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.
IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL

I recommend you download RegSeeker. Extract it to it's own folder, open and double click RegSeeker.exe to start the program. Maximize the window and click clean registry. Check all sections and click OK. When the scan is complete, verify the backup box in lower left corner is checked and click the select all button, then select all again. Then right click within the search results and select delete. Run it again and again, deleting everything it finds until it finds nothing. Reboot and make sure your programs are working properly, control panel and add/remove programs windows open, etc (basically just do a quick check of everything). In the event anything was 'broken', you can open RegSeeker, click backups and double click any/all files to put the information back. A reboot may be required for the effects to be seen. Reboot When done.

NOTE: To be extra safe you can choose to only remove the items in RED.
ok, this is a pain and I am so sorry for this but I do not know what to do now! I have winzip and am useing it and this is a betta thing it also has 21 languages and once I save it to my desktop go to extract it it tells me : multiple files were dropped, and one or more is an archive. Add files to archive? yes, no, help buttons I click yes the go nuts…..I get an add bo and the I just click add and it tells me the file path is not good. sort of lost at that point and do not know how to do a screenshot to give you. ok never mind I found a way around that problem….good to go now and here is where it is: C:\Documents and Settings\John T. Sawyer\Desktop\RegSeeker\RegSeeker
sorry, I noticed in my last two msgs I missed quite a few letters due to my frustration and all. Forgive me for being hard to follow. I now have RegSeeker in a folder on the desk top. I have got a few other things in with the exe that did come with the program. Like: backup folder, read me, history, regfav, etc.. Should I put the exe all alone in a folder? Shold this folder go into my C drive or is it fine on the desk top?
