I have several issues going on with my computer lately and have no idea how to fix them. My computer is running very slow and keeps losing internet connection. I have had to reload drivers for my DSL modem twice in the last month. I have a pop up that keeps telling me my computer is infected and that I should download a new program however my McAffe finds nothing. I am at a loss for what to do next, my brother suggested I come here and beg for help. Please help?! My log seems to be longer than most I have seen I am assuming this is a bad thing. Thank you for your time.

Running the Clean

Warning: running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.
______________________________

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.

[external image: Posted Image]

The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

took a while but I got them :)
Disable Microsoft Windows Defender:
We need to disable your Microsoft Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  • Open Microsoft Windows Defender. Click Start, Programs, Windows Defender
  • Click on Tools, General Settings.
  • Under Real-time protection options, unselect the Turn on real-time protection check box
  • Click Save
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {D6DFF6D8-B94B-4720-B730-1C38C7065C3B} - (no file)

Thank you so much for your help that seems to have fixed it!! :weee: Everthing is running much smoother and no more virus popups! I do have one more question for you; what do I do about these notices from my firewall? The last one was a few minutes ago and it was 192.168.0.1 trying to acess port 68, I dont understand this info or what to do with it.

Is that something on the inside trying to communicate outbound, or something on the outside trying to get in?

Does it tell you what program is attempting this?
These seem to be coming from somewhere outside the computer. my firewall program has a notice that comes up telling me that said a computer located at those numbers (which almost seem to be an IP adress but I am not sure) are trying to access port 68. I have my AntiVirus, Windows, and Adobe Photo Shop all doing auto updates so as far as I know these are the only things that should be accessing anything. What am I doing wrong?

These seem to be coming from somewhere outside the computer.

Then the firewall is doing it's job.

I'm not familiar with McAfee's operation at all.

I have Norton.

It blocks all intrusion attempts from the outside automatically, and alerts me if anything "new" on the inside is trying to get out.

I don't think you're doing anything "wrong" at all.
Thank you so much for your help! I will be making a donation to the site and reccomending it to everyone I know. You have been very helpful and extremely pleasant to deal with. NOw I know where to come for help. :D
Thank you for choosing TomCoyote for your malware removal solutions.
