This morning Ad-Aware SE found ten registry entries, eight labeled as Win32.Trojan.Downloader, two as Bargain Buddy.
Spybot S&D found ClearSearch.net, labeled as a registry key for (Autorun Settings) Microsoft Works Update Detection.
With Ad-Aware I cleaned the ten keys it had found; shut off restore points; rebooted. A fresh scan came up with no items detected.
I left the ClearSearch.net item alone, since a few websites I checked mentioned it may be a false positive (those sites were giving info that's years old tho, and this detection is new, so I don't know about it).
I ran a scan with my PCcillin which detected nothing.
All programs listed above are updated (check that - just realized I'm running Spybot 1.3, while i.4 is available). They all have latest updated definitions for the respective versions.
I'm hoping someone can check the HJT log to reassure me everything is clean, or if I've missed anything. Or if there is any more investigation I should do. For instance, that Ad-Aware scan only showed Registry entries - shouldn't there be a program associated with those keys?
Here's the HJT log. I can provide an Ad-Aware log too, if necessary.
Thanks for any help.
