no go… I have created ff.bat and saved on desktop - when doubleclicked - notepad opens and closes simultaneously flashing for a brief moment - too quick to read what is on the screen ?? (I tried ff.bat in "txt" and "all files")

Can you find mscoree.dll in your C:\Windows\System32 folder?

Download it, and unzip it into the system32 folder.

Reboot.

See if that solves the problem.

If you don't have a firewall - get one.

The one with SP2 isn't "bi-directional".

Meaning it can stop some things from getting "in".

But once something is "in", it does nothing to alert you that it may be "reaching out" and inviting it's friends over.
