This is better. My Mistake Micah Oops! Volume in drive C has no label. Volume Serial Number is 28B7-E1AB Directory of C:\WINDOWS\system32 Volume in drive C has no label. Volume Serial Number is 28B7-E1AB Directory of C:\WINDOWS\system32

How bizarre…..

I don't see any programs in your log that "inhibit" registry changes….

Do you know of any of your running programs that would stop the registry change we're trying to make with HijackThis! by "fixing" this:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WinMedia] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxvwqajd.exe3072.exe

Delete this folder:

C:\!Killbox

Is the PC behaving "nicely" now?

Securing Your PC After An Attack

Let's try one more approach.

Run the registry search tool, and search for this:

WinMedia

Post the results.
Micah, The only no programs opened and the only programs monitering are McAfee, spywareguard, spybot & xoftspy. Computer is running faster but still lags a bit. Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

Don't run it yet.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All.
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you have Firefox, under Firefox choose: Firefox cache and Firefox cookies
Click the Empty Selected button.
Close the program.

Run an Ewido scan. Have it delete all the bad things it finds (hopefully none).

Save the log from the Ewido scan.

Boot normally, and post a new HijackThis! log, and the Ewido log.
:)
Micah
Have done the tasks. Don't understand why this is still here.
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WinMedia] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxvwqajd.exe3072.exe

After 50mins of Ewido it came up clean. NO spambot.trojan or any other.

Copy and paste the contents of the quote box below into notepad.

Save it as file name: "fixme.reg" (not including the quotes). Save as file type: *All files* and save it on your Desktop.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"WinMedia"=-

Then, locate fixme.reg on your desktop and it.

You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?".

Answer 'Yes' and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".

Reboot.

Make another log to see if this:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WinMedia] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxvwqajd.exe3072.exe

Is gone now.

Thank you for choosing TomCoyote for your malware removal solutions.
