computer freeze

my computer started to freeze or run too slow. when it would freeze all the programs would disappear and only the wallpaper would be there. i ran my anti spyware and it found some things and it would say it was removed and my anti virus would find nothing..my computer is still doing it though. here is my HJT log. can someone help me please?Thanks!

Welcome, you have two Anti Virus programs running at the same time, not a good idea as they will use a vast amount of system resources and bang heads with each other. Its your call but you need to uninstall one via the Add-Remove programs in the Control Panel. This could be part of your problem. With Anti Virus software…MORE IS NOT BETTER


Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vunerable.

Go here to download JRE 5.0 Upgrade 8
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8 <– This is what you need

* First, remove any older versions of the Sun Java Platform from the Add/Remove Programs screen as they are known to contain security vulnerabilities.
* Reboot your system
* Install the new version
* Verify Installation Here

ok well i downloaded that java update a week ago.. but i guess it didnt completely install or something..it is now. i removed the other antivirus…here is my log

As a precaution in case you have something hidden on your system that is not showing up on your log, lets run the trial of Ewido, its pretty good about flushing out any bad guys. I need to see the report when your done.



Download and install the 30 day trial of Ewido Anti-Spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.

* Once you have downloaded Ewido Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
* Once the setup is complete you will need run Ewido and update the definition files.
* On the main screen select the icon Update then select the Update now link.
* Next select the Start Update button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
* Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
* Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine
* Under Reports
* Select Automatically generate report after every scan
* Un-Select Only if threats were found
* Close Ewido Anti-Spyware <– Do not run the scan yet.

Boot your computer into Safemode

* Go to Start> Shut Off your Computer> Restart
* As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly,
this will bring up a menu.
* Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
* Then press the Enter on your Keyboard

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:

* Lauch Ewido-Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
* Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
* Ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
* Once the scan is complete do the following:
* If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
* Next select the Reports icon at the top.
* Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system
*** make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important
* Close Ewido


Reboot normally and run this system cleaner to flush out all the junk.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
    Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.


    Let me see the Ewido Report and a new HJT log please.

Hello stephms05 :D

WeatherBug is not malware itself but sometimes brings spyware with it, I would suggest you uninstall it via the Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel. You would be better off with the weather program from the weather Channel that is spyware free.

Then Open HJT Scan Only and remove this entry if still present.

Lets try cleaning you up a bit.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.


Lastly, lets run this quick scan to see if there is something on your system that is not showing up on your log.

Please download F-Secure BlackLight
  • Save BlackLight to your desktop.
  • Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
  • Click > Scan then > Next
  • After the scan you'll see a list of all items found. Please click Next and exit. Don't choose to rename anything yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there.
  • There will be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (where the xxxxxxx are numbers)
    Please post the contents of this log in your next reply.

Even though its not showing on your log, you had a registry entry on your Ewido log for the Vundo Infection.

Lets run this tool to make sure its not present.

Download VirtumundoBeGone from:

http://secured2k.home.comcast.net/tools/VirtumundoBeGone.exe

* Save it to your Desktop
* Close all running programs (including your Internet Browser)
* Double-click VirtumundoBeGone.exe on the desktop
* Follow the directions as indicated

Please be advised that this program may generate a "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH" (and perhaps a "dump" of your system memory)… this is an expected/necessary part of the process, so don't be surprised if it happens.

just reboot if your system "jams"

Post a new HJT log and let me know if things improved

VBG came up clean :thumbup: I figured it would, it was just a precaution to make sure none of that infection was present VUNDO IS NASTY :rant2:

Your log is clean, I dont see any malware or a virus on it. All the scans we ran came up clean and we cleaned up your system . This could very well be a windows or a hardware problem, since this forum is for the removal of malware, I am going to give you some links to tips and some Windows tech support sites that may be able to help you.
