MSN Messenger and Windows updates no longer instal

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 8:33:26 PM, on 7/27/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) I've tried to upgrade to MSN Messenger Live and the install fails with a 1603 error. Also My Windows automatic updates fail the install as well. This has only been occurring in the past week or so. 20 GB HD has been defragged and has 4.5 GB free space still available. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks
