Hi Statix,

Both the below linked Microsoft knowledge base articles may help you.
Both recommend that you BACK UP YOUR DATA, OPERATING SYSTEM, PROGRAMS, DRIVERS, AND UPDATES…… BEFORE CHANGING PARTITIONS.

FOR A BRAND NEW DISK WITH NO OPERATING SYSTEM OR DATA ON IT:
How to partition and format a hard disk in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=313348

FOR MAKING MODIFICATIONS TO AN EXISTING DISK WITH OS AND DATA ALREADY ON IT:
How to use Disk Management to configure basic disks in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000/

If you are adventurous and want to add a new partition without first doing a back-up…. you do so at your own risk.

Best Regards
