On the wife's computer she had SEVERAL infections that with the help of Ken545 over in the malware forum, I was able to clear up. The las thing that is remaining is the Windows Task Manager. When CTRL-ALT-DEL is pressed all you get is a white window, nothing is displayed. No processes, files or tabs. Ken suggested I run scannow. I did that, no change.
Here's a long shot possibility. at the top of the "white box" there is a bar that has shaded dividers that would indicate where each column "should" appear. The user can make any one column wider or narrower by using the left-click button on the mouse to "grab" the shaded divider and "drag" the divider to the right or left to make the colum wider or narrower. it is possible to "drag" a shaded all the way to the right margin of the White area, thereby pushing all of the columns out of view. (drag it back to the left to expose the columns to view again) I admit the situation I describe is "very unlikely" to have happened, but if it did, it's easy to fix. Otherwise I'm stumpted and would have advised Start - Run - (type) sfc /scannow Again, just to check, when you entered the Run command, did you type it exactly as it appears below? (notice the space after the "c" of sfc and before the backslash) sfc /scannow Best Regards
Try double-left clicking on the bottom gray frame area between the the white space frame area and the outside frame itself… this should return everything to the screen… some kind of WOW (Windows on Windows) feature Microsoft uses…
