I was looking at videos online, one wasn't playing, saying that win media player wouldn't work play unless I downloaded this codec. I downloaded and installed the codec mediacodec-v4.290. After installing it, i was infected with much malware. Spybot SD registry change monitor keeps popping up saying "Resident denied the change of Start Page (category Browser page) based on your black list.
