I have a teenager who has recently surfed some sites he shouldn't have. Since then I keep getting what I can only describe as pop-ups but they pop up in full IE windows. I have run McAfee and Ad-Aware each time this happens. Each time they find only PUPs. I delete them and it just keeps happening. Can you please help? Hello Mark and welcome to TomCoyote forum. They picked up a good one, you have the Vundo trojan. Before I post the instructions that should get rid of it, I want to cover a couple of items you may want to get off your computer.

1) C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe <<< you may want to uninstall this one via Add Remove programs, see the links:

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix, follow the instructions carefully.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
• Turn your computer back on.
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Post the two bolded logs, along with the information I requested above and any feedback you think will help. We will have more to do.

Thanks so much for your help. I was denied access when I tried to delete ALCXMNTR.EXE, BackWeb-137903 and FASTFIND.EXE. Do I need to be in safe mode for this (sorry if that's a stupid question). Here are the log files as requested.

HJT is a process manager. when we stop the item with HJT you can then delete it if done so before a reboot. I am also going to suggest you remove all of the HP search junk that is just cluttering up your browser. The removal is optional and you can click then to see where they go and leave the junk if you wish.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
