I've purchased McAfee AntiSpyware and run it (without much luck) and have run Adaware and am still having problems with pop ups. If you wouldn't mind taking a look at my HijackThis log and see if you notice anything (I didn't, but I'm not that good).

Thanks for any help and advice in advance.

Lethal, Thanks for the quick response. The search for C:\windows\system32\kalv???32.exe came up empty. I did a search for that using the search function and also manually browsed that folder and found nothing. Am I doing something incorrectly? Thanks, Jason
Still no luck finding any files with the name you listed. Thanks for the help in trying to locate them.

Here is the new HijackThis log file after rebooting and letting all process run.

You are running SpyHunter (or Spykiller). This is a program that advertises itself as removing spyware, but it apparently gives false positives to get you to buy it and then does a miserable job. Some even thing that it may install malware. I recommend that you remove it in Add/Remove Programs. See this post for details about these programs:
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?…tail=2004-02-05

You are running 2 anti virus programs. Any problems with it ? conflicts etc ?

Are you using xp firewall? If not a good one can be downloaded here
Zone Alarm

Do the following online scans

trendmicro
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
panda scan
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Next run HIJACKTHIS, press SCAN and put a CHECK to the following lines. Then CLOSE all other windows including this and press FIX CHECKED

After that you need to REBOOT into safe mode. It Is important that you do so or the fix may not work. Instructions to boot into safe mode here

Do NOT WORRY if you do not find them
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\

and the following files
C:\WINDOWS\System32\fqvybzlw.exe
C:\windows\system32\kalvcik32.exe <—- check this out again please
SStb.exe <—- like to be in C:\WINDOWS\System32\ or C:\WINDOWS\
Lethal, Thanks again for the help. Here is an update: The Trend Micro virus scan found 7 files but could not delete one of them, the file is gzguio.dll and I've been unable to delete it manually. Keeps giving me an access denied, file in use, permissions error. The Panda virus scan found 4 instances and removed all 4. I ran HighjackThis and then rebooted in Safe Mode. Was able to find and manually remove: C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\, C:\Program Files\SED\, kalvick32.exe, and sstb.exe. I also downloaded and ran Ad-Aware SE Personal (I just had regular Ad-Aware?) and it found a bunch of stuff and got rid of it. I was unable to find Spyhunter or Spykiller in my Add/Remove Programs. Also, I was unaware that we're (This is the Mrs. PC) running more than one anti virus program. But, have had no noticeable conflicts. Thanks again for all of your help. What is next? Should I post another HijackThis log? -Jason
Here's the latest HijackThis log…. I'm guessing there is still a little work to be done because I'm still having the occassional pop up. I just downloaded the Zone Alarm firewall, as well as SpywareGuard and SpywareBlaster.

Thanks again for the help.

Do you know what these 2 files do?

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ypygtf.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\devldr32.exe

If yes then exclude all references of it in the following fix
To check navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\ right click on the file and choose properties
Under the version tab, take a look at the company name and other information. If its blank or have some thing you never heard of then its likely to be bad.

These may be hidden files. See here for how to show hidden files.

After confirmation proceed on
———————–
First press Alt+Ctrl+Delete keys together to bring up the task manager
Under the process tab,
look for the following process devldr32.exe and ypygtf.exeand end task on it

These may be hidden files. See here for how to show hidden files.
Find and delete the following files
DO NOT WORRY if you do not find them

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ypygtf.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\devldr32.exe
Lethal,

ypygtf.exe did not show up when I first searched for it, but the devldr32.exe did. I was unable to delete it because of an access denied error so I rebooted in safe mode and was able to delete it. While in safe mode the ypygtf.exe showed up and I was able to delete that as well. After deletion, neither file showed up in the task manager.

Lethal, Thanks so much for all your help. My Fiancee is so happy that her computer is fixed. If we run into anymore problems I'll be sure to drop by here. -Jason P.S. - What do you think about using the FireFox browser instead of IE? I've heard that it is less succeptable to spyware and adware. Any truth to this? I love using it on my Mac, but Macs are a totally different story (ie., no spyware, etc.)
firefox does has its advantages but i stick to IE. i guess im more used to it Just get protection i recommended and you should be safe I've never been hit by any serious malware ever since i got them  happy new yr :wavey:
