Everytime I startmy laptop I get the message…windows configuration is attempting to install photogallery. Or something like that. I let it go to see if itll install but it doesnt. I triedto remove it so it wouldnt do it anymore but I have no idea wat its called.
You guys helped me with this laptop before with my hijack log, I hope you can help me with this.
Thanks alot.
Hi MikeRickli,
From the HJT Log that you recently were working on it appears that you have various Hewlitt Packard utilities. Is Photo Gallery one of the components that Hewlett Packard offers for installation?
If so, it may need to be re-installed.
Sometimes a "faulty installation" needs to be re-installed over the top of the corrupted copy, and then "un-installed via Add/Remove, before installing a fresh copy of the program.
If the Photo Gallery that you are dealing with is part of the HP utilities offered, and you have the installation CD, then you could act on my recommendations above.
If this is not part of the HP selection of utilities, then do you know what it is a part of?
Please let us know how you progress.
Best Regards
All I know really is that when i start my laptop it says windows is trying to install photogallery, and it keeps trying untill it says windows could not install please choose a destination o install from or something like that. Im basically trying to keep it from trying to install all the time, wether that means to get rid of it or what.
Ok I restarted to get the correct message.
"Please wait while windows configures PhotoGallery.
then it tries to do what it does then after a while this message comes up.
"The features you are trying to use on a cd-rom or other removable disc, please insert photgallery disck.
Installing this program and the associate "gallery" files may consume a large amount of Hard Drive space, if your hard drive is relatively "full" you may experience difficulties. Some users have reported problems when their hard drives are 50% full. Granted this is only "relative" to their hard drive side, so it may not apply to you.
Please let us know the size of your hard drive and amount of free space currently available.
Additionally, you may benefit from the recommendation I suggested earlier to deliberately insert the Installaton CD and allow the Photo Gallery installation to run to completion. At that time, I would recommend that you un-install Photo Gallery using Add/Remove. It is likely that the Add/Remove process will leave remnant files still in existance in the home folder of Photo Gallery. Continue the uninstall process by deleting everything in the Photo Gallery Folder and the Folder itself.
Then you can evaluate your system's functioning, the remaining free space available on your Hard Drive, and decide whether or not you wish this program to be installed.
Please remember that if you have added some of your own images to the gallery you should save those files before completing the above operations.
Once you either uninstall or successfully reinstall your Photo Gallery, other System Health scans will be in order.
Please consider System File Checker.
Pleae consider deleting all of your temporary and temporary internet files.
Please consider running Scan Disk, followed by Disk Defragmenter.
Please consider rebooting to SAFE Mode and running all of the updated antivirus and antispyware scans that you have onboard your machine. (please keep logs or write down identified malware items)
When you post back with results from these recommendations, Members here may be able to give you additional recommendations.
Best Regards
