Problem with Windows 2000 SP4

Some time ago I had to have my hard disk re-formatted and OS re-installed. Since then I cannot add or remove programs from the control paneel. Each time I hit the icon, I get the following error message: An unexpected error occurred. Object does not support this property or method. res://sp3res.dll/default.hta Line 82 Can anyone advise how I might recover this function?

Try this, go to Start|Run|Type: "regsvr32 appwiz.cpl" without the quotes. Liam

Thanks, Liam, I tried that and got the following error message: Cannot find the file (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available. I have done a search on the system CD, and the file is not there either.

Dear Liam, Have you had any further thoughts on how to recover the add/remove programs function?

have you tried using system file checker start>run: sfc /scannow

System file checker throws up no anomalies. What now?

Yes, and tried the fixes suggested, but none of them work.
