Cloning My Hard Drive

Any suggestions on the best way to go about cloning your hard drive? I'd like to put a back up on an external drive to be safe. I have restore points set up already, but I'm thinking about catastrophic crashes and want to be prepared. Does anyone know of any quality shareware that will do the trick? Thanks-Chris
