Hello Adan,

I don't see anything bad in his HJT log. We can try a few things to see if it will help.


Please download System Security Suite. Extract it from the zip file into a folder.
here.

Run 3S under “Items To Clear” tab place a checkmark in all of them but the last.

Reboot and Rescan with HJT and post a new log here.
Also please describe how your computer behaves now.

Thanks LDTate. I ran the System Security Suite, rebooted, and am re-posting my HJT log. I would describe the computer performance as average now, but the startup still takes a few minutes. Any way I can reduce the boot-up time and possibly increase performance?

I suggest you replace WeatherBug with WeatherPulse by Tropic Designs it's free of spyware/malware and is good replacement for anyone using Weatherbug. It's free.

use Add/Remove Programs and remove:
AWS
weatherBug
ewido


Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

Alrighty….followed your instructions and re-posting my HJT log. One thing I noticed in my Add/Remove Programs menu was an older version of Norton Utilities 2003 that I thought I had previously uninstalled. Yet it seems like there are still some pieces of it left on my computer (still have a Norton Protected Recycle Bin!). When I try to uninstall it thru the Add/Remove menu it says it is "unable to locate the installation log file." Any thoughts? Thanks!

One thing I noticed in my Add/Remove Programs menu was an older version of Norton Utilities 2003 that I thought I had previously uninstalled. Yet it seems like there are still some pieces of it left on my computer (still have a Norton Protected Recycle Bin!). When I try to uninstall it thru the Add/Remove menu it says it is "unable to locate the installation log file." Any thoughts? Thanks!

Nortons is one that doesn't totally want un-install. Might have a look on their web site. I don't think it's causing any problems with your PC.

lets see if this will help speed it up.

Backup your Registry…
- Press "CTRL - ALT - DEL" keys all at the same time to start "Task Manager"
- In the Task Manager window click on "File", then from the drop-down menu select "New Task (Run…)"
- In the "Create New Task" window enter\type "regedit" (without quotes)
- Once Regedit opens click on the FILE menu and select Export
- Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.
IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL



I recommend you download RegSeeker. Extract it to it's own folder, open and double click RegSeeker.exe to start the program. Maximize the window and click clean registry. Check all sections and click OK. When the scan is complete, verify the backup box in lower left corner is checked and click the select all button, then select all again. Then right click within the search results and select delete. Run it again and again, deleting everything it finds until it finds nothing. Reboot and make sure your programs are working properly, control panel and add/remove programs windows open, etc (basically just do a quick check of everything). In the event anything was 'broken', you can open RegSeeker, click backups and double click any/all files to put the information back. A reboot may be required for the effects to be seen. Reboot When done.
