[zen_rain]

Here is the HijackThis log for an odd, MSN-style toolbar that obscures the bottom of the desktop at all times, as well as random pop-up ads of a very simple, non-descript, and poorly spelled nature. Any ideas would be infinitely appreciated!

Thanks for the reply. I swatted this particular bug shortly after posting the first message. It turned out to be a long list of .exe's that I found using "Autoruns" from Sysinternals, among the other tools recommended by various moderators on this forum. After deleting the autoruns from the start list, I was able to delete them without issue. Among them were "owns global blast.exe", which seems to be an identifier. It had embedded a number of executables under iexplore.exe, which resulted in an "iexplore.exe" using ~50% of the CPU with all browser windows closed, and the annoying, unclosable toolbar on the bottom. It linked to lop.com for a number of graphics. Should anyone else encounter a similar problem, I'll provide further details. From Google searches, it seems to be a very rare strain of spyware. -zen_rain
