Instant Messenger Virus

I got an instant message from a friend. I clicked the link and like an idiot ran the program it directed me to. Tea timer in Spybot caught the registry changes but, as I cannot read the buttons that pop up, I clicked the one on the left…regrettably I accepted a registry change. I did not allow the other changes. As well Norton Antivirus caught the file and tried to get rid of it. I am pretty sure it could not do so.

The output of my "Resident" file is:
9/1/2005 11:56:52 PM Denied value "QuickTime Task" (new data: "") deleted in System Startup global entry!
10/16/2005 5:50:12 PM Denied value "KernelFaultCheck" (new data: "") deleted in System Startup global entry!
10/17/2005 9:19:53 PM Allowed value "freestyle" (new data: "lockx.exe") added in System Startup user entry!
10/17/2005 9:19:58 PM Denied value "freestyle" (new data: "lockx.exe") added in System Startup global entry!
10/17/2005 9:20:03 PM Denied value "freestyle" (new data: "lockx.exe") added in System Startup global entry!

I also found the following entries in my system startup on Spybot that have changed after the original snapshot:

Located: HK_LM:Run, KernelFaultCheck
command: %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\dumprep.exe
size: 10752
MD5: 13922eb54890c77005268882629a31fe

Located: HK_CU:Run, freestyle
command: lockx.exe
file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\lockx.exe
size: 169361
MD5: 7f5ef044e2886bf0e5114c79c44f9e75

I then ran a search with Windows Search of "lockx" and found:
LOCKX.EXE-09E17CDA.pf C:\Windows\prefetch

I ran Spybot and it did not detect anything. I am currently running Trendmicro Housecall, and Norton Antivirus, currently with nothing detected. I am also currently running Ad-aware. It has detected some 27 objects, but I do not know yet what they are…prob just cookies.

Any help with removal would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS
More new developments: AUTOIt Error Line 0 (File "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InetGet2\mc-62-602-0000156.exe"): $var = ChangeRegistry(_ $var = ^ ERROR Error:Error parsing function call "Powered by Freeprod.com" "Your content is loading, please wait" Spybot caught registry entry change from the autoIT error
So I clicked the "ok" button on "your content is loading" as I had no option. It downloaded some junk to my computer. It then definately opened WinAmp and set up an internet gateway on my comp. When it opened WinAmp it played some porn that the program downloaded to my C:\Program Files\Common Files\Download\adult2.mpg Spybot also caught another registry change: Browser Helper Object {2296428D-C133-4928-B76A-A200FF409572} It then threw up two more registry changes
hi Chasmed,

get rid of this 04 using hjt (see below for hjt)
run hjt– select these, (maybe two entries like this 04) from the hjt scan:

04-HKLM..\..\Run Service[free style] img552.com
—————————————————————-

from the desktop bring up task manager by hitting crtl-alt-del keys
end process on img52.exe
—————————————————————-
delete lockx.exe in C:\WINDOWS\system32 dir.

—————————————————————–
do this:
Click Start>Run then type %temp%
Hit OK. Delete all the files you can.

Empty your Temp folders. Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin
—————————————————————-
hjt:

—–>go here http://www.subratam.org and under Removal Tools link find and download—-> Hijackthis.latest version 1.99.1
Dont run it from within the zip file. Extract to a folder such as c:\Antispyware\Hijackthis\ or c:\Program Files\Hijackthis\ but not on your Desktop or a temporary folder.
This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary and prevent it from being deleted when the temporary folders are cleaned out or creating its backup(s) or backup folder on the Desktop.

Or get the .exe version here http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe which will put it in programs list for you

Once you have hijackthis.exe in it's permanent folder:
Start the program
Press do a system scan only, hjt will scan select the 04 entry(s) as above, and only those for now. close all windows and and click "Fix Checked"
after the above reboot computer once
————————————————————–
next run htj and select do a system scan and save a log file
post that hjt log in this forum:
http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showforum=27
i will watch for your post in that forum
