Hi can any1 possibly help me, now and again when im playing high Resolution games (HL2, DOD:source) my PC crashes completly and re-boots windows then sends a error message to microsoft and the reply is a driver problem (i presuming it means a conflict)!! i was thinking it may be hardware related possible my graphics card or my power supply (mainly because it doesnt always happen, sometimes ill be on for ages other times it'll crash 2 mins in)……any ideas it would be much appriated!!!!
my system is a: AMD Athlon 64 3500 Winchester Core, Heatsink and Fan, 512MB 400DDR RAM, Socket 939 Motherboard, 128mb Geforce 660(i think) PCI-E vid card, 120gb hard drive, pretty case with a lights and extra fan, 350w psu! Finally i use a wireless router along witha belkin wireless usb card, i havnt inatalled the usb card simply used the drivers when the hardware was discovered. Any1 any ideas??? Thanks
hmm.. awfull lot of things there with such a small power supply. Specially… specially with AMD's. I am running a 2.0ghz Celelry (clocked at 2.5.. hehe) and I have 700 watts of power (2x350's). I would say without doubt that your power supply is not enough for what your running. However.. that may not be whats causing your problem. Is the card itself overclocked .. or do you know. .?
Thanks for the reply crow, nothing is overclocked on the system, its a very recient built pc and i have just ordered a 550W power supply so hopefully this will be a help, if not the power supply can u think of anything else that might be contributing?? Thanks
Well, could also be a setting on the card, like multitextured rendering could be turned on.. or off.. I tell you what you can do to eliminate that as a possiblitiy, create you a profile in nVidia's console and load it before you play. If that helps fix it.. then go back to the console and pick the option "Let application decide"..
(honestly though, I think when you get your power supply you will no longer have this problem.)
Well ive got the new power supply installed (550w) and some RAM (RAM was just because) and so far so good, i did have one blue screen dump yesterday because of a driver conflict but quickly realised that was because my USB wireless card driver was conflicting with a windows driver so i re installed it (inc belkin software) and hopefully it is all running fine now!! Thanks for the help Crow it really is appriciated. (seleets - im happy 4 u)
