sorry if this has already been posted. i have been trying to install SP2 since it was released to no avail. i always get an error message about dr watson debugger. i alwways have to reboot my machine to a few days prior to get it up and running again. looked everywhere and cant find anything

Ok, how are you going about trying to update..? Also, not sure I understand what you mean by " i alwways have to reboot my machine to a few days prior to get it up and running again".. are you saying it takes that long to boot up?
If you cant get your automatic updates to download, then download the entire service pack here Microsofts SP2

i have done the automatic update AND installed the full SP. when i say i have to reboot i mean i have to reboot the computer to the settings from a few days prior to trying to install SP because the computer freezes!
