Running: WinXP Pro
Using: Ad-Aware, AVG, Spybot, Symantec Antivirus, Opera

Second time doing this. Just doing a check to see if the compy's okay. One problem though: my main Hotmail account will not load, but my old one will. If I use my main one it just displays the "cannot find server" page. Everything else is working properly, but as I stated before, I'm just doing a routine check.

I might just be being paranoid, but when I opened IE I noticed it was displaying a different IP than I'm used to seeing. Usually it's a yahoo or microsoft IP, but sometimes it's one of those wonky "what the hell?" IPs. Yea, I don't know. Just thought it'd be good to mention.

Hello PPG-R005 and welcome to TomCoyote forum. First:

1) You have no Service Pack: Platform: Windows XP(XXX) (WinNT 5.01.2600) and none of the critical updates needed to keep your browser safe: MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000).
If you need to check your copy of Window sXp, you can do that here: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtote…ws/default.mspx You need to visit Windows Updates and download all critical updates Microsoft suggests for your system.

2) It appears you are running two antivirus programs at the same time. If this is the case you should uninstall one of them and keep the other updated and run often. Running two will make you less safe then if you do this.
Symantec AntiVirus Client (Norton AntiVirus Server)
C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgcc.exe

3) You can troubleshoot hotmail issues here: http://postmaster.msn.com/cgi-bin/dasp/pos…xtNav=TShooting and here are additional resources: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=hotma…G=Google+Search

Once you have addressed these issues if you feel you still have malware related issues, post a new HJT log and I will take a look.

Thanks…pskelley

1) Can I download the service pack, when running a… "not exactly legal" version of WinXP? And we don't use IE, all users use Opera… 2) The guy who helped before told me to run the antivirus programs and said it was fine. But, okay, which should I disable? The Norton one didn't catch the last 3) Hotmail's okay now, sorry.
Hello PPG-R005, I see nothing to be concerned about in the HJT log you posted other that the security issue with Windows, because of your admission here:

1) Can I download the service pack, when running a… "not exactly legal" version of WinXP? And we don't use IE, all users use Opera…

I must give you this information:

"As you have so admitted that you are running stolen merchandise, you have an option to pay for it and make it good, uninstall and go to a free version of Linux, or just deal with all the insecurities and problems you now have, TC does not support the use of illegal software" Tom Coyote Wilson

2) The guy who helped before told me to run the antivirus programs and said it was fine. But, okay, which should I disable? The Norton one didn't catch the last

It is hard to believe someone here would have told you otherwise, perhaps you misunderstood?
***both are good programs, this is your choice***

Glad to here your Hotmail is working now, I will leave you with information that may help but I believe it is not a question of if you will get infected because of the lack of critical patches from Microsoft, but rather when…my suggestion is to get yourself a legal copy of the software or contact microsoft about how to validate the copy you have. Good luck.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
