I recently started having problems with my pc taking forever to boot up to the Win xp desktop.

I ran AdAware and SpyBot. Both found some problems and removed them but my pc still booted up slow. I ran both in safe mode and normal mode. I also tried Xblock. Even though some of the problems seem to be resolved, they show up again each time I reboot the pc.

I tried running Bazooka Scanner which found the following and gave manual instructions on how to remove them:
unknown.startup.113
unknown.startup.883
bookedspace
promulgate

The manual instructions listed some names which weren't found on my pc. I deleted ones I could find but my pc still starts up slow. Please help.

I'm new at this so please let me know if you need more information.
It's been over 48 hours with no reply. According to your posting guidelines, I should "reply" with the word "bump" in the message:

I was able to get rid of the slow startup on my pc by running the following software but none of the following software items are successfull at removing Aurora and/or VX2 from my pc. No matter what I try the popups and files keep coming back. I have "system restore" off.

The software items I have run are:
AdAware - finds only VX2, deletes it, then it returns
Spybot
CW Shredder
Bazooka Scanner - keeps finding Aurora, also found "unknown.startup.833"
SpyHunter - find VX2, deletes it, it returns
XoftSpy - finds Aurora
AVG - finds nail.exe and others, deletes them, then they return
Norton
XCleaner

Hello cheryllo, welcome to the TC.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us/easyfile/file.php?dow…050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly — this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.
I followed your instructions. When I ran HijackThis, the "F2 - REG….", "03 - toolbar: (no name)….", and "04 - HKLM\..\Run: [ffrgee]…" weren't listed

Since I rebooted, so far no popups but Ewido found "trojandownloader.qoologic.s" in path c:\windows\system32 file name riopric.dll. I tried clicking on "clean" but it wouldn't take so I had to click "none" instead.

Here's the Ewido log:

Looks alot better. We need to run this again.

please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan
Ok - I ran "nailfix", Ewido and HijackThis again.

When I open the Internet Explorer, I still get the:
"TrojanDownloader.Qoologic.s" path C:\windows\system32 file name riopric.dll message which doesn't allow me to "clean" or "remove"

Everything else seems fine so far. Thanks so much for the Aurora removal !!!!!!!!!

I suggest you do this:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [epmufj] c:\windows\system32\hgyuyyp.exe r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rpnjrp.exe reg_run
O4 - Global Startup: nipk.ex
e

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart in Safe Mode:
Restart your computer.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Search for and delete these files if listed:
nipk.exe
c:\windows\system32\hgyuyyp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rpnjrp.exe

Open C:\Windows\Prefetch\ Delete ALL files in this folder.

Do this also if these Temp Folders are part of your OS.

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Next navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY LISTED USER)\Local Settings\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
I followed your instructions. Even though I "checked" the three "04" items you listed, two of the items (kavsvc and nipk.exe) still show on the latest HJT scan.

I received the same "trojandownloader.qoologic.s" at my desktop screen after I boot up.

The file "nipk.exe" doesn't show anywhere when I search for it. The "rpnjrp.exe" file comes up with "cannot delete, access denied…." when I try to delete it.

I deleted all the other files you listed.

Here's the latest HJT log:

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
Great job

You're more then welcome.
Glad we were able to help

Peace be with you :wavey:
