Hey all some guidance on this one would be greatly (and i mean greatly) appreciated! I use a slew of programs to remove spyware (spybot S&D, ad-aware SE, and SpySubtract) but this one just seems to keep coming back. I have even tried to manually remove registry and executables to stop this from coming back, with no luck. I also tried to delete some of the known registries and with HijackThis and it keeps coming back. The suspected exe that is running is aarln.exe however this executable has been known to change its name throughout this process making it more difficult to remove. Also I think there might be some suspicious ADS that were found so I am including that log as well. Anyhow here is my HijackThis log. Thank you in advance!

NP! Thanks for your reply. I still have the spyware and random popups occur when I surf. Still can't get rid of them by conventional means (scanning). Here are the most recent logs.

Reboot normally. Please download FindQoologic from here: http://forums.net-integration.net/index.ph…=post&id;=134981

Save it to the desktop and run Find-Qoologic2.bat. This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here for me to see.

If you receive an error message while running the program such as "C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application…"
Go here and follow the instructions for your operating system, than run Find-Qoologic2.bat again.

I only need to see the Hijackthis log and the FindQoologic log. No need to post the startuplist or ADS Spy for now.

Step 1
  • Please download the Killbox.
  • Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.
  • Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.
  • Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.
  • Click "Replace on Reboot" and check the "Use Dummy" box.
  • Paste the following into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.
    • C:\WINDOWS\System32\IN1BNS.DLL
  • Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button.
  • Click "Yes" at the Replace on Reboot prompt.
  • Click "Yes" at the Pending Operations prompt to restart your computer. You do not need to reboot into Safe Mode this time.
  • When your computer reboots, please run Find-Qoologic2.bat again and post the new log here.
Step 2
Download this file to your desktop. Right-click and select….. Save Target As….Save.
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select Install.

Note : Since the Domains are deleted SpywareBlaster protection must be re-enabled, Spybot's Immunize feature must be used again, and you'll also have to re-install IE-SpyAd if installed.

Step 3
Open HijackThis, run a scan, then check the following:

O2 - BHO: VBRunDLL Class - {197B8CA4-E215-46DD-8F33-E0544A80E5C4} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\vbrundll.dll (file missing)

With all other programs and browsers closed, click fix checked.

Step 4
Please run Notepad and paste the following text into a new file:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\kkgsqqkt]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{944e70ad-446f-47b5-af8b-88bcd3bf843f}]

Save the file to the desktop as fix.reg and make sure the "Save as Type" field says "All Files". Then please go to the desktop and double-click on fix.reg, and click Yes to merge it with the registry.

Step 5
Reboot normally and scan with HijackThis. Post the new Hijackthis log and a new Find-Qoologic2 log as a reply to this thread.

Your new log appears clean. :)

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.)

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. On the System Restore tab, put a check mark in the 'Turn Off System Restore' check box.
3. Click OK, and then click Yes.
4. Restart the computer.
5. Repeat steps 1 - 2, this time clearing the box beside 'Turn Off System Restore', click 'OK'.

I suggest that you get these programs to help keep the computer clean:

Spyware Blaster - Blocks bad ActiveX items from installing on your computer. Spyware Blaster runs silently in the background.
SpywareGuard - Real-time protection from spyware installation attempts
ie-spyad - Puts over 8,000 bad URLs into your restricted sites for Internet Explorer.
Google Toolbar - Blocks many unwanted pop-ups in Internet Explorer.
Firefox - 'Safer' alternative to the Internet Explorer web browser.
ZoneAlarm - Free firewall program if you currently are not using one.

Update these regularly.

You may also want to read "How did I get infected in the first place" to learn how to better secure your computer.

Be sure to keep Windows and your Anti-virus updated.
